Another chance for Rooney to shine, especially now that he said he hopes he'll get off the mark against Newcastle. I'd stick to the same team - seems to be working well so far, maybe Schweinsteiger could start ahead of Carrick.

Yeah, Basti for Carrick otherwise unchanged.

I'd like to see Herrera start but that isn't happening unless we switch to a 4-3-3, which isn't happening any time soon. Januzaj has to keep his place and Schweinsteiger has to come in for Carrick.

I want to see Herrera, even in a 2 man midfield next to Schneiderlin. We play much better with Herrera in the side, and nor Carrick nor Schweini has impressed so far and justify Herrera's omission after his wonderful last season. I don't know why people think he couldn't play in a 2-man midfield? he is a lot more aggressive than Carrick and deceptively just as strong. He would bring the best out of Mata, and still have Schneidi behind him to cover him.
No brainer for me.

I haven't been impressed with United so far but they have still won both their games. They need to improve but I think they will get another victory against Newcastle, who were all over the place at Swansea last weekend.
Rooney has been poor so far. I don't think playing up front is his position. I think he is best as a No 10 looking at the goal, not with his back to goal. Pedro would have been good for them up front with Rooney off him, but I don't think Rooney is a centre-forward. I'm a big fan of his but not as a centre-forward.
PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0

Paul Merson just 4 months ago...
"Wayne Rooney is now playing up front. How did we all know his best position is a striker but it takes a manager that has worked for a national team so long?"
Muppet.

Injury situation remains unchanged - feels refreshing to say that every week so far.
On Bastian...
"It's only a matter of time before he starts, maybe it will happen tomorrow."

From his interview with MUTV beforehand, the quotes are on the rolling blog on the website.

Man Utd v Newcastle (12:45 BST)
Manchester United have now played three and won three this season but the way Club Brugge set up in their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday definitely helped them. The Belgian side gambled going forward and that suited Louis van Gaal's side because it gave them space when they attacked and Manchester United won 3-1. As good a start as they have made, I still think they are short of what they need to be serious contenders in the Premier League and Europe at the moment. Both of these teams are a work in progress but the difference is that, defensively, Newcastle do not look convincing at the moment. I can see Manchester United's good start continuing.
Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Jack's prediction: Memphis is hitting form for United and I think Newcastle will be in trouble again this season. 3-1
