Well, with the negatives there were also some positives also. My main positive, and I will be showing my bias towards him now, is Herrera. He's a fan favourite I know, so I'm not alone in my backing, but I am glad that he not only got the chance to play on Saturday, but to also take advantage of that chance. Without the goal, he was still the best player for me, made a goal line clearance (that on another day might of been the difference between win/draw), one or two beautiful through balls, one in the first half to ADM particularly stands out, as well as being quite busy everywhere on the pitch. For a guy of relatively slight build, he puts himself about quite a bit.
No one else has mentioned this, well, as far as I can see anyway, but did anyone else notice the very subdued celebration for when we took the lead? Herrera himself at first didn't look exactly ecstatic, Di Maria and Shaw looked positively somber, only Rooney seemed to be appropriately happy after what was a pretty decent team goal. - video below for evidence - sorry about the quality, it was the first highlight I came across that showed the celebrations. I just find this a strange reaction for the team to have to taking the lead.
There were many negatives about our display of which I could discuss, but I think I will leave it at that for now, I'm sure Hammy will come along and pick up those reigns. Our second half performance probably didn't deserve a loss, but, that's football, you need to take your chances. As has been said, if we can translate the second 45 into the full 90 then I'm sure we are walking away with 3 points, I cannot understand our constant lethargy. Anyway, on to the next.

I know what you're trying to highlight, but the music doesn't help the mood either

we were poor again, full stop. I do see what LVG is trying to do, but sometimes I wish he would just let the players express their natural talent and get on with the game of playing football without interference from the "philososphy" and get back to the basics. I still have faith in his stability ideas, but can't help becoming frustrated with the gamble.

Having watched that first goal back (which was superb by the way and an indicator of the football this side can play) I agree there was a subdued reaction to the goal particularly from Di Maria and Shaw, the way they just trudge over unable to muster up a grin is a little bemusing. Rooney and Herrera seemed happy enough though. Don't necessarily think it's a problem with morale or the joy being sucked out of the team, more to do with players thinking there's 60+ minutes to go yet and we've still got a job to do, which we inevitably failed to perform.

I agree with Jamie here about there still being a long way to go in the game and that it is not a fact that they cannot celebrate properly because of lack of joy for the game. What I am more concerned about is that it may be a sign of a lack of confidence in the system that the players know that the goal is not the start or end of the game and they are expecting opposition teams to score afterwards and cannot get excited when we score?

I don't think they're necessarily expecting the opposition to score but the moment you start taking a 1-0 lead for granted in the premier league you're fucked. You have to concentrate for 90 minutes or else you get bitten, which we found out on Saturday. Should not be conceding so soon after taking the lead especially in the poor way we did, absolute gift of a goal. Then the second was just a huge slice of luck, if there's no deflection it's going straight at De Gea and he makes a comfortable save. Really was just one of those games that if it wasn't preceded by a few indifferent displays we'd have taken as bad luck and moved on. Actually watching the whole game back now on MUTV and we were clearly the better side. It is definitely an improvement on previous weeks performances. Lots of forward passing, moving the ball quicker and got into plenty of dangerous areas. Just couldn't convert this into goals which is down to the attacking players.
Herrera the best player on the pitch by a distance for me as well, really hope he's managed to convince the manager that he deserves a chance now. No surprise we start to move the ball quicker and look better in building an attack when he's on the pitch.

Not expecting the opposition to score exactly, I could have put that better, but it's worrying that if it's the fact they didn't get over excited could be because of a general lack of confidence and the knowledge that one is not going to be enough in any game, but especially now with confidence at an all time low? Nothing definitive here, but to answer the questions asked about the celebrations above, is it a possibility?

I wouldn't say so personally, I think we often look to much into stuff like this. I can't criticise a player for not celebrating or smiling when I go months without cracking a smile. ... Maybe we should consider the chance that they're just miserable bastards!
Would also like to add about the game, despite us not doing enough in the final 3rd Swansea actually defended really well.

I certainly wouldn't be miserable if I was living their life and correct, maybe too much is being read into this. Let's just hope that LVG can finally get it right and put smiles on everybody's face.
