In and around the box until we sent out to the wing then a cross for fellaini. Predictable as fuck and easy to defend against. Once again lacking ideas and cutting edge.

I can kinda agree about the predictability, we had little to none chances created from the middle of the pitch and I think only one shot from a distance, which is something that I'd like us to improve on. The game was an improvement to the last few, but very disappointing and frustrating that we couldn't score. Still not enough from our forwards, I wonder if a possible RVP injury might come as a blessing in disguise...what an awful thing to say

Quick question for you Ed. I know most people would be happy with us playing crap football and qualifying for the CL. It seems to be the concenus that we must qualify whatever the cost in our play even though last summer we spent over £150m and probably need to spend the same again to have us playing how VG wants. My question is if we continued to play crap football and didn't qualify for the CL would you be in favour of VG continuing?

Again agree with Dave about the possession, it wasn't like the last games in which we were just passing around the centre of the park we were moving it forward and looking dangerous, what was lacking today was that final ball from midfield and quality from a striker. People complain because we are playing poorly, then when we improve and get a bit unlucky people say we deserved it. If we play more games like that for the rest of the season we'll get top 4 for me. RVP leaving on crutches could turn out to be a blessing.
Tactics were spot on today, as Edwood says it was just one of those games.

It would make me question what the hell we did for the past season. We should ask Swansea for tips regarding choosing managers

To be honest, it's also high time we start dishing out our complaints to the players.
RVP, Tony, the whole bunch of them

Yes, because 1) until that midfield and CB area is sorted noone on planet Earth is going to get the best out of that squad, it's profoundly unbalanced, period. 2) there is noone else available capable of seeing through the changes the club wants.
But there's no doubt it'll be a bitter blow to everyone concerned if we don't get CL action.

I really think we should wait 3-4 matches before we can say our performances are improving. If not it will always be the same question. Did we play well or did they play bad? If you look at Swansea's performamces since Christmas they've won 6 points out of a possible 24 conceding 17 and scoring 6. Loserpool knocked 4 past them. Chelski knocked 5 past them away. Blackburn knocked 3 past them and in the last game WBA knocked a couple past them, even though Swansea got a great result away to Southampton (thank god) I still don't think they are good enough for us to judge our own performances on.

And why we're so reluctant to shoot? Small cojones and fear of the dark?

To be honest, it's also high time we start dishing out our complaints to the players. RVP, Tony, the whole bunch of them It sure is, I actually think that people blamed the players more than Moyes last season than they have with Van Gaal this year. Alot of them aren't pulling their weight, the keeper obviously is, the full backs are alright for the most part but don't offer enough in an attacking sense in some games, the central defence is prone to mistakes but is defending decently as a unit and not conceding many goals. But in terms of building from the back they're all pretty poor in their passing meaning attacks are breaking down before they're even beginning. Di Maria isn't doing enough, whatever position he plays he hasn't been half the player he was at Madrid for the last couple of seasons, since the defeat away to Leicester he's done nothing of note. RVP and Falcao make me think Danny Ings and Charlie Austin would be a much more productive strike partnership right now. Even Rooney, who as always is working incredibly hard and doing a job he doesn't necessarily want to do when played in midfield is still full of mistakes, sloppy passing and even he looks like he has trouble controlling basic passes at times. Not blaming the players completely but instead of saying the manager's spent X amount of money he should be doing better, how about we say he cost X amount of money and is being paid X a week he should be performing better. I struggle to find anything to complain about in terms of the manager's choices today, if there is 1 thing it would be the fact he didn't take RVP off.

But there's no doubt it'll be a bitter blow to everyone concerned if we don't get CL action. I'm not saying it will happen because without a doubt I do think we have a good enough squad to get us there. I just wanted to gauge peoples reactions on how far they will support VG.

I share Ed's sentiments, it will be a major blow that I don't even want to contemplate right now but I see no value in getting rid. Can't think of many manager's out there who would be available and would do a better job if any.

This game was an improvement, I think there is no question about that.
But it was also a sour reminder to LVG that there're still many holes in the first-11 and that some players are riding their luck until this summer.
To be fair, I believe LVG will get it right, eventually, although a top-4 finish is still very much doubtful in my books: we will have to beat our rivals and we're in for a tough run of games from now on with tricky away fixtures coming on as well (Everton, Newcastle,...). Finishing into the top-4 will require us to be at our very best, which we haven't been, let's be honest.
