We can win this fixture,I would say take Carrick off though as he is not at full fitness.Bring on Mata to aid our attack.

I am now officially NOT a LVG fan. Starting with a 3-5-2 against one of the fastest counter attacking sides in England is just asking for trouble. Playing Fellaini and Carrick in the middle where neither have a creative bone in their body. Persisting in playing Di Maria too far forward to influence the game. Persisting in playing RVP. Rooney playing where he wants. All our creative players less Di Maria who's being wasted anyway are sitting on the bench. If I was Mata, Januzaj and Herrera I'd be seriously questioning a move away. We are no better than we were under Moyes. The biggest difference is we've spent €150+m and if Moyes was still our manager he would be slated from pillar to post. So why shouldn't VG?

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "I think it is a fantastic victory at the right moment. We have a lot of injuries but despite of that we win a difficult away match. Arsenal are a good attacking team. At the end I can laugh but you can imagine if they score one of four or five chances in the first half it is a different game.
"They have had five big chances yes, but we have also had possibilities at the end of the first half. Not so big but we could also score. In the second part of the first half we were coming back. We don't have the confidence in the first half and I said we needed to build up the ball and because of that we got chances. It is no surprise for me that we scored in the second half. I was not pleased with the ball possession of our team but after that we improved and in the second half we did very well."

was worried but we pulled of the win nicely.
our posession game was shit pretty bad accuracy from passes took shots and apart from the goals it didn't seem any of them hit the target
despite this, we won. i think it does show you the character of this team, to be worse on the night and still win it (bit like a fergie managed team)
oh yeah, RVP needs to be dropped, i'm all for a rooney-falcao forward combination with mata or di maria playing behind them, going to go one step further and say if he doesn't do much off the bench between now and january, sell him (he ain't young and we can still get a good price for him)

They always say winning whilst not playing well is how champions perform, now I'm not saying we're going to win the league but it's another sign of the improvement in this side, not a cat in hells chance we win that game last year.
The performance in general was poor and we rode our luck especially in the opening half hour but I think in the second half we defended much better and played out a relatively good away display against one of our main rivals this season. Arsenal looked toothless and after missing their opening couple of chances I never really felt like they were going to get anything, no matter how much they passed and probed in and around our area and it was inevitable as G Nev said in commentary that we would hit them on the counter and should've made it 3 with Di Maria missing his chance.

I will also add and I'm not using this as an excuse but the squad is hugely depleted, we won away at Arsenal without, Jones, Evans, Blind, Falcao, Rafael, Rojo and then Shaw went off early (thought Young did well when he came on). All those guys are pretty much first teamers, so despite more than a few shaky moments in the end we really got what is a very good result.

Didn't play well at all last night. Yes, we might have won but IMO, if we play like that again against any other teams that doesn't waste their chances we will definitely lose.
Totally outplayed in midfield and our frontline of Di maria, Roo and RVP weren't ticking and clicking as well. We might have scored from the counter but it was due to Arsenal throwing men forward and poor defending from them.
I just hope we will not play this formation against weaker opposition at home. Just too cautious and only waiting for the counter. There's no mobility and movement up front as well. The 3 players on top looked too scattered and far way from one another. There's no connection whatsoever. Would like to see more of Herrera and Mata as well for more link up play.
I am happy with the result but not with the performance.

We didn't really deserve that win yesterday, 1st goal was sheer luck. 3-5-2 doesn't suit us and there is no midfield play if Arsenal were more clinical in their finishing we would have been 2-3 goals down. Hate to see lot of side wards passing and back passing. We were scoring goals for fun with the midfield diamond I think we should go back to that formation...

Good win yesterday although the performance was not what we all hope for but as LVG said before the game, he is still searching for a formation and this was the only formation he could play with our injury list. I was a bit worried with the ease Arsenal were getting at the defense in the first half but as soon as they didn't make the most of it i knew it was only a matter of time till we hit them on the break. We could have had more than two or even three had the players not hesitated with passing especially RvP who offered nothing upfront again. It was really annoying watching the way the Arsenal players were pressing and ours not doing anything and knowing we have Herrera who can press on the bench but 3 points is all that matters. i hope the next game we play a diamond with Herrera, Wilson and Mata coming in for Fellaini (who was decent again yesterday) and RVP.
