Fact is nobody knows what sort of manager Giggs will make. He could be another Pep or he could be a Paul ince, it's obviously a risk but a risk that makes sense IMO. He's had enough training and different learning experiences. Spent nearly his entire playing career under the greatest manager of all time which will stand him in good stead, I also think that despite how things have gone to shit under LVG, Giggs would've learnt a significant amount from another experienced manager in this short space of time, things to do and not to do. And definitely learnt things not to do when under Moyes.
Everything about what has happened since Fergie retired has signaled a lack of planning and vision. People say oh they brought LVG in to change things and instill a new European philosophy and mindset onto the players, if that was the case why didn't we go for him in the first place?
Go with Giggs and surround him with experienced United people. Let him have complete control and give him the time he may need to get things right. Mourinho and Pep are short term fixes that leave us in a similar position as we are now in 3 years time, trying to replace an experienced manager.
Obviously nobody is ever going to have the influence Fergie had, nobody is ever going to stick around as long as he did but it's unfair to compare what Giggs may do to what Fergie did do. Just because it's unlikely and very difficult for Giggs to build his own United dynasty, does it mean that we shouldn't even try to?

I agree with you in the fact that Giggs will eventually take over MU, but I do not think that now is the time for many reasons... I already mentioned that he played alongside some of the current players. This makes him more vulnurable than someone who didn't. More importantly, I want Giggs to succeed and prove himself as a long term SAF replacement. How do you think the supporters will react if he fails drastically with the current squad? They will hang him by the balls. He needs to take over a stable club with a good outlook. What we have now is definetly not stable, and the outlook is gloomy.

still say Giggs should have taken the Swansea job, in his native wales, not a bad chairman at all to work with and the squad is good (andre ayew, gomis etc, that is a mid table team)
if he proved himself there, then he would have been fine

It wouldn't matter though, because he'll be criticized as much as SAF, Van Gaal, Moyes whoever was before him. But yeah, like to said Giggs is going to take over sooner or later, I'd rather it be later when it would be hopefully a lesser risk for the club. Also blowing off Guardiola and Mourinho... (but it would be funny)
