First FA Cup match in a competition we should be looking to win, build on our last two performances/results and get the confidence back.
They are a league one side so we should be able to field some youngsters/players who need games but still have a strong side.
De Gea, Varela, Smalling, McNair, Darmian, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard, Pereira, Memphis, Rooney.

While the attacking midfielder is expected back this week he is unlikely to be available for Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United to Old Trafford in the FA Cup third round as he will not be match fit because of the Bundesliga’s winter break. Van Gaal had hoped the Belgian would gain valuable experience by playing regularly for Dortmund but he was never deemed good enough by Thomas Tuchel to start in the German elite division. Januzaj was selected only for Europa League games. During David Moyes’s tenure two seasons ago Janzuaj was one of the few successes, breaking into the side with some match-winning displays. Yet following Moyes’s sacking in April 2014 Januzaj gradually slipped from the first-team reckoning. Januzaj’s lack of success at Dortmund will be a particular disappointment. When on holiday in Dubai last summer he – along with Luke Shaw – took a personal trainer to try to attain optimum sharpness before the new season. There is no plan to recall James Wilson from Brighton & Hove Albion despite Van Gaal’s lack of striking options.

Difficult game, they'll be well up for it. Could have done with cripple-gimp Jones for this one.
Still, we should have too much for them.

Fixed your title a little bit cause Sheff was bothering me. On the match - I always get anxious when we're playing lower league sides just because you can always expect it to be a tough game. I'd love to see more of Pereira though

Away to Newcastle on Tuesday night so I wouldn't go completely full strength for this one. I'd still play a strong side though. De Gea
Darmian Smalling Mcnair Blind
Schneiderlin
Pereira Fellaini
Januzaj Martial Young

I'd even be tempted to have Ben Pearson in there, or at least on the bench. He'll be primed and ready and has been performing really well against sides like this all season for Barnsley.

Don't know why and don't want to be negative prematurely, but this game has banana skin written all over it. Just a feeling, hope I'm wrong please.
