Something (happily) tells me that Mou isn't in the running...... Me too which is why I think you'll see the club turn inward and you will get a Giggs - Ferguson back-up ticket of some description.

"The board don't want to change manager now (since we will most probably get a new one in the summer) in order to maximize our top-4 chances". I understand the reasoning, but they're fools to think we will reach top-4 under LVG with that type of football. Right now, we're losing support, we're losing sponsors, we're losing points, we are losing reputation, potential future transfers, and most of all we're losing our own players and identity. It's about high time we stopped this: Giggs couldn't do much worse at this point, and if he fails to reach the top-4 (which LVG won't get either anyway) at least he will lift the spirit and bring some positivity. I think LVG must go. Let Giggs take charge, bring back Phelan and Meulensteen to assist him and see how it goes until the summer. They can't do much wrong, and I am sure it will give everyone a boost. Or Get in Mourinho and you know he will make us competitive, and maybe he could even reach a good chemistry with the squad and stay on for longer than 2 years. We're losing everything you said, but more importantly, we already lost the fear factor.

The performance was rubbish fair enough yesterday but it's not like last season against Yeovil we set the world alight or even Cambridge. As much as it is LVG's fault these players are effing up, you can't tell me that they can play the way they did against Swansea in the second half and Chelsea first and then he restricts them against Sheffield United nah. I also wouldn't be arsed if he was sacked tomorrow but as he said we have too many players who are too nice that they accept these types of shot performances. By the way Jamie didn't you say a few weeks ago that you wouldn't mind us playing shite as long as we win end of the game? Maybe I misunderstood your point but for me as much as I want entertainment I just care about results now. Aye, we've seen these games before and we've seen us lose them as well, like against Leeds. One hundred percent in 2016, into the next round, on we go

Well there's the issue though. We haven't improved, at all. I thought we had by the way we started the season, our play wasn't great but defensively we picked up where we left off last season and were incredibly solid and looked tough to beat. That awful run through December completely negated all of that.

We're turning that awful run around.
Last few he's given them more freedom and we've been taking more risks that's clear to see, confidence is coming back but not enough to break down a brick wall. Another win under the belt though will boost them and go again on Tues.

I'm not sure that was exactly the confidence booster we needed, but I guess it's better than losing

If they can take confidence from how they performed yesterday they're seriously delirious.
A draw vs a poor Chelsea and 2 unconvincing wins at home hardly represent a turn around, they merely stopped the rot.

I get you Jamie and Splendid spy, I won't lie I was very frustrated with the play and you are right the feeling is different but if they didn't sack Moyes when it was evident he lost the players why will it be different for VG? I just want us to get top 4 and the season to finish and we will see what goes on from there.
Scholes is a hypocrite to be fair he is always and has been critical of VG this season but when it looked like Mourinho might be in the reckoning he said he needed more time... I feel he is just a mouthpiece for Giggs, most of what he says I don't take to head.

In an ideal world he doesn't get sacked and he see's out the season, getting us into the top 4 but it doesn't mean I'm happy with the performances and with his management. As I said Yesterday I'm not going to say i want him sacked right now but I no longer support him as I have done in the past in terms of saying I'd be pissed off if he was to lose his job. I don't care anymore.
I actually agree with the consensus that we really couldn't be doing any worse with Giggs in charge at the moment, which if it is the long term plan would make sense to get him in earlier if this recent "upturn in form" doesn't continue.

I read in ESPN the other day that basically Van Gaal had a chat with the players and they said they wanted to bring some fun routines back into training and what they liked and what not etc; Van Gaal said what he wanted and supposedly they met in the middle. Which is all well and good but then they come on the pitch and the performance and overall feeling is still the same. I don't know anymore what it would get the team moving and it's getting worrying because we're already in January, like Charlie said top 4 at this point is absolutely crucial and it feels like we're gonna have to struggle for it. Maybe not right now, but at the end of the season Van Gaal has to go, especially with the quality managers available around

The players still have a lot to answer for, no doubt about that but he is the one persisting in playing them and in the same setup every game. I accept that sometimes the other options aren't much good but he also has to take some of the heat for that as he has largely put this squad together himself. Rooney should've been dropped months ago, Mata shouldn't be starting anymore. Our midfield, which is excellent on paper is looking distinctly average and so on.
Yet next game it's 4-2-3-1 with largely the same players in the same positions.

I say he must revert to 433 with Pereira or Lingard in place of Mata. Rooney has scored 2 in 2 so I don't think he will drop him anytime soon. Memphis must do what he did yday often to be more of a threat but VG must surely give these players more freedom infront and I think as much as he improved the defence he must look at how to penetrate a packed defence cos that's what we are facing every match I still don't know how he hasn't addressed it yet...
I am also not against the appointment if Pochettino end of the season as I feel he would do more with this team than the current manager. I just don't know how he would handle the pressure, if not him then I would take Cholo.

I got so fed up with our as usual no-flair performance that I switched over the TV channel at half time trying to find the Muppet Show.
This morning I started to watch the second half, still crap so I checked the result and changed the channel to Home Improvements.
I caught up with the rest of the game later on and saw the penalty decision and Wayne converting it. He then celebrated as if we had just beat Barcelona, they (Sheffield United ) are not even in the Champions League ! League 1 for the love of mike.
A team made up of the Wives, Mothers and Grandmothers of his team in Fergies time would have won 3 - 0.
The only Silverware we will be seeing this season is if Argos has a clearance sale.
Disgusted - oomtom
