OK, we won't get him in january but I'm really starting to come round to the idea that Harry Kane would be a great signing for us. 33 goals in 62 Tottenham appearances can't be scoffed at. He's still only 22 or 23 and has PL experience. Shoots from anywhere, doesn't mind getting stuck in, likes to run at players, good control, can hold the ball up, good at passing but more importantly has a football brain. But as it's Spuds they'll probably ask 60m for him if they'd even sell at all.

Nevermind getting someone better for that amount. U don't just pay 41mil for mahrez. If that's the case then okazaki will be around 30mil and drinkwater will be 35mil. It will inflate the market.

There isn't one player I would sell for sure. Not even Rooney or Fellaini, because we know that both can have major impact if played in the right system with the right set of mind. Last year, Rooney and Fellaini were part of the team that reached the top 4, with Young and Mata. And yet, those must be the biggest underperformers this season. That. And especially not Memphis, after just one season. Not even a full season. I'd love if we can add some more power up front but I'm not relying on the January window

Don't be daft, it's about the going rate for a PL attacking player coming off the back of a good season or in this case part way through. On current form he's been the best player in the league, not going to come cheap if we want him especially in January.

No good looking for brilliant strikers when LVG's system stifles creativity and flair. Save the money to balance the books when we are again not involved in the Lucrative Champions League and Europa League is in doubt.

He didn't really light up the PL last season did he?

He was good last season particularly towards the end, you could clearly see he was a talent but he was lacking the end product. This season he's developed that side of his game hugely that is clear to see, two seasons is generally when bigger clubs start to make a move and they generally do it when said play is at the top of their game.
Whether he can replicate that at a bigger club who knows but he has the talent, technical ability and seems to have a good mentality.
I'm not saying we should buy him but the prices being touted aren't far fetched given his form and with the new TV deals coming in it will take more dosh to prise the top players from the smaller clubs.

We really need a striker at the moment. What is Cavani's situation at the moment

Ighalo. He fits the bill perfectly IMO. Strong, quick and a good finisher. Just have to look at his goal from Yesterday to see he'd bring exactly what we're lacking. People will say that the likes of Bony and Remy haven't exactly set the World alight after moving from lesser clubs but the've barely had a chance. With our current options I'd have Ighalo starting for us every week. He'll also be cheaper and easier to get than other alternatives this window, guys like Lukaku, Aubemeyang and Lewandowski aren't plausible in January.

I agree, even if they only work out for us short term, they'll make adequate squad players, you can move them on later if need be. Only NOW really matters at this point.

Getting to that time again..
I think we could do with a CB, RB, CM (Valencia and Carrick successors). That said the calibre of players we need are highly unlikely to be available in Jan and there's no point spending for spendings sake. I can see a few players leaving the club though, Basti and Schneiderlin will possibly go, Memphis and maybe some other youngsters will opt for a loan.
What are you guys thinking?

Can't see anything happening tbh. Lindelof seems to be the touted one, I'd be happy with that, start summer business early.
We need Shaw to grow his balls back, Darmian needs to go. Blind needs a solid run in Carricks position, Martial and Rashford need a run up front. The players might already be here. RB I'm torn on as Tony V makes a good case - but I'd much rather have an Irwin and Parker scenario for stability and Mourinho would too.

Lindelof is hopefully just joining the long list of Benfica players we don't sign, he doesn't really make any sense unless we're offloading Jones/Rojo, similar in age and development to Bailly. I wanted Keane but we're going to need a top class experienced man if we want to get to the next level not two young men still learning the game.
I don't understand Mourinho and the left fullbacks, hes taken a few swipes at Shaw who hasn't served up half the dross that Darmian has who keeps getting picked. Mind boggling.
I agree with you on the strikers, which is why I left it out, just hope they get a chance at some point once we climb the table. I'd also like to see Blind have a run in midfield but I just don't see that happening under Mourinho.

I think Blind is perfectly suited to do Carricks role but he needs bedding in properly. I don't think he fancies Rojo, Smalling or Jones long term, he prefers Jones but he's injury prone, which is problematic. I reckon if Arsenal stumped up a decent whack for Smalling, ala Welbeck, he'd be off in a shot.

I don't think we'll buy anyone in January as well, but I expect a few players to leave - most likely Basti. And according to papers Schneiderlin and Memphis are to follow - which I would be surprised given that they've hardly played and when they did, they didn't set the pitch on fire. It's a shame if they go, but that's life. I'll definitely keep Smalling though, I think he's not done yet.
My question is whether Mourinho prefers Martial and Rashford on the left or up front? If left - then we might need to look around for another striker, because we can't rely on Zlatan to provide all the goals (even though I could well imagine him finishing the season in a Van Persie fashion). If Mourinho prefers Rashford on the left and Martial up front, then he needs to give them some more playing time.
