 I agree that fatigue played its part in the midweek game, however they have a day off to recover and knowing how we push ourselves for big games like this I think we'll go full force against Arsenal. It's going to be a tough one, but I'm remaining moderately optimistic. I'm going for Schneiderlin - Carrick and bring Bastian on in the second half. Hopefully Rooney can finally snap out of his slumber

Just watched the prats on Soccer Saturday sit and slag Arsenal off for 15/20 mins. Saying how Martial will run their defence ragged. Then went on to be relatively complimentary about us compared to usually.
What about their predictions you ask? 3 went for an Arsenal win, the other a draw. Standard logic.

Saw that and they're getting paid a fortune to be experts....I don't know why I even watch it

if i see carrick and schweinsteiger starting together i think i'll flip
one or the other, we don't need the same player playing twice (which essentially is what happens with both of them on)

Don't completely agree. Carrick will sit deeper and allow Schweinsteiger to play more attacking which is his best position for me. I actually think he could go with the 2 of them today, we're away at Arsenal so those 2 would give us more chance of having more control. Schneiderlin on for 1 of them at around the 60 minute mark.
After all, it worked well enough at home to Liverpool.

Same here, I think Carrick plays a more defensive role than Schweinsteiger, so I don't see a problem. For me the problem can come from whether Carrick is fit enough to start, so I think Schneiderlin - Schweinsteiger is more likely and Carrick coming later on.

I'm not saying they work for every game. But today is the sort of game they'd be a better pairing than others. Away to Arsenal or at home to Sunderland our game is about keeping hold of the ball and attempting to control the flow of the game. Schneiderlin has been solid but has also been a little sloppy at times, if he did that today and gave the ball away in midfield they'd be on us like a shot. Schweinsteiger and Carrick rarely give the ball away and are incredibly composed.

neither are what you call good stoppers of the ball, certainly not to the extent of Schneiderlin
i'd go with Schneiderlin and Herrera starting, mata and depay on the wings and rooney and martial up front
if we don't have the steel in midfield we are going to be overrun and badly, Arsenal will dominate us in midfield if we play both carrick and schweinsteiger and badly, that midfield ain't a joke, its frightening, the only thing with them is they can't finish
