Two consecutive wins against direct rivals for an UCL places, one away at that in the hardest place to go for Wayne Rooney. Poor ol' Wayne!
Last season I'd say "complacency mustn't kick in" but now with van Gaal at the helm it's pointless sentence really! Not an easy match since Villa is fighting relegation but that shouldn't distract our ambitions in any way.
One match at a time.

I expect complacency and dropped points followed by a brilliant performance against City.

They'll be pumped up for it, go midfield heavy and press hard, and try to sit back frustrate in the opposite direction - and we don't have the tools for that yet, so a struggling low score win again.
Fine by me.

Our form of late has been excellent. Even in some defeats we've seen a much better United team. I am afraid we could be complacent, but at the same time I feel like everyone in the team is in perfect shape and ready to bring back the team to the top. So I think we will win in, especially at OT. We have to keep that momentum and pick up as many points as we can. Arsenal and Pool are facing each other next week, so points will be dropped for a direct rival (or both), and there is no way LVG can let us be complacent on that occasion.

If RvP is back for this match, how many on here would be surprised to see this strike team in a 4-3-3: Rooney-------RvP-------Mata where Rooney and Mata operating as a wide (or inside) forwards with Mata being a playmaker too and Robin as a false 9?

Would completely fuck up the balance that we've found. I'd be massively disappointed if van Persie started.
The only changes that should even be half considered are Rojo for Jones and Di Maria for Young, leave everything else as is.

Robin's form of late isn't helping the case that's certain, but I thought there is a possibility we could see something like this based purely on the attributes of those 3. Robin has played in a different setup the whole season, totally devoid of any confidence with a possible niggling injury and a bit of a tiredness so maybe this would be a completely different story now.
It's a pure assumption I know and he's coming back from an injury but just based on all of this above and the fact that he is still one of the best strikers (false 9's) in the league, very well capable of holding and shielding the ball and dragging the opposition's defense out of positions, maybe he has something to offer, considering that he now would have a much better support than previously during the season.

I really can't imagine any complacency here ......... The three points are too critical - we should win hands down 2 or 3 nil - the whole team wants CL football next season.
Agree with Marc for the team selection - Rojo for Jones - ADM for Young - that's it.

Yeah I don't want RVP anywhere near the starting lineup right now.

I don't want to change anything, the team is playing well and playing with lot of confidence. Lets keep the winning combination, I thought Blind will struggle in the left back position but he is showing that he is capable of playing there. RVP and ADM can come in as subs but I don't like the idea of starting them.

Young picked up a knock didn't he? If he's fit I wouldn't even consider putting Di Maria in the side. Don't change a winning team.
