That top 5 head-to-head table is glorious to look at. That was my big ask this season from the manager. Get us competing in the big games properly again and that table shows that. I think that's how you judge a top manager. I don't see us not finishing on top of it come the end of the season either. The way I see it in the form of the last 2 games we beat Arsenal and City and get at least a draw with Chelsea.
The Gerrard red just stunned me...I looked at my mate and said..he's been sent off... just both completely gobsmacked. Then burst out into a fit of laughter.

Yeah, complacency against the sides you should be beating is something that's far easier to rectify than not even being remotely competitive in the big games, which was the problem last season.
I think Arsenal were the only side in the top 8 that we beat last season.
I'm still never confident against City these days but we've got a hell of a lot better chance than when they pitched up at Old Trafford last spring.

Never overly confident going to Anfield either! I think we'll beat them, they're a side in need of a major revamp for me. The only player that worries me is Toure, if he turns up and bosses the midfield then they could get a result but he's not the force of old. The likes of Aguero and Kompany haven't turned up this year. Then you have guys like Navas and Nasri who just don't concern me anymore.
Of course, it's a local derby and form tends to go out the window in these types of games (cliched but true), so the out of form players could turn up for this one.
It's just good to be going into these types of games with anticipation, excitement and a genuine expectancy of winning compared to last season, where I was going into them with trepidation and hoping to not get embarrassed.

hoping to not get embarrassed. And even that turned out to be hoping for too much in the end. It's these big games where van Gaal really comes into his own, we've been tactically brilliant in the last two games. I still feel like we need sides to attack us to properly exploit them though, hopefully Sherwood's stupid enough to play two up top against us next week.

We've been great in the last two games, I wasn't expecting us to win against Liverpool honestly, but you can't argue that it was a deserved victory. I've been really impressed with Smalling yesterday (apart from the obvious Mata) and Fellaini - the wookie is growing on me this season

'I have seen the Martin Skrtel incident,' Rodgers said.
'The ball was played through but it probably looks worse in slow motion.
'It looks like he is trying to get a nick on the ball, to get a toe on the ball but the ball went into the goalkeepers hand.
'Martin is not that type of player, he was just a fraction out.'No surprise there from a Brenton Shiters, that statement suits the manager of a Stampyfool FC!

It’s not yet sure whether we’ll appeal, but with Diego Costa charged for something similar earlier in the campaign – it seems unlikely that we’d be successful even if we did
I remember the bastards banging on about that Costa stamp crying out for a ban but now when their "hero" makes the same it was an accident at fast pace! Comedy gold hypocrites!

That's the LVG effect: there is no denying that he is improving us massively from a tactical point of view, which is paying off in those big games. As I said earlier in the campaign, it's a shame we were not in Europe this season, because we could have done well in those tactical games. This season is becoming very exciting, but I am even more excited for next season. LVG won't make the same mistakes, he now knows the league, his team is in a much better shape, and with a few new quality faces, I expect us to take the league by storm.

LVG won't make the same mistakes, he now knows the league, his team is in a much better shape, and with a few new quality faces, I expect us to take the league by storm. This is the same feeling I have. There were a few massive hurdles for us to clear this season due to what happened over, arguably, the preceding 2 seasons (lack of transfers on Fergie and Moyes in general). The players were obviously short on form and confidence, with no strong CM/CB pairing, new unfamiliar players coming in, and another new manager and tactics to get to grips with. Since then, we have been up and down in terms of results and performances, but now, we can all agree (I hope) that it is clear that over the past couple of months, progression has been made. Even before this apparent progression, we have been pretty hard to beat all season, and we've not been completely humiliated as of yet. I have much hope for next season, LVG will not mess about, I believe his vision/philosophy will be much clearer next year as he now knows the league and the players he is dealing with. I'd be surprised and somewhat disappointed if we go next season without some silverware.

From the RAWK: Herrera also gets away with a diabolical tackle as well ( because the ref saw it and only gave a yellow card ) and, according to the rules, De Gea should also be missing the next 3 games for his reaction to the 'stamp' but, funnily enough, no one has mentioned it at allIf i'm Skrtel, i'd go to the FA and say yes I did stamp on De Gea only because Wayne Rooney kicked out and studded our goal keeper and could have broke his ankle so I was paying them back.I don't know what Duncan Castles is going on about, calling Skrtel a serial offender and dirty... Says it all.
