I'd love Pogba back. I can't find enough of a shit to give about the way he left, the argument still to this day goes on about whether it was money or solely first team football. It doesn't matter which one it was; either way the person that made that decision (Ferguson and/or Gill) isn't here anymore. If there really is a chance at it but the club have pride issues over it then I'd be well and truly pissed off, just look at the difference Matic has made in Chelsea's midfield - nobody said a word about the fact they'd let him go on the cheap a couple of years earlier. A midfield three of Herrera, Pogba and Di Maria will do me very nicely. Wouldn't Schneiderlin be a better choice Marc? I hated seeing us losing Pogba because his potential was there for all to see but we'd probably have to pay in the region of £50+m for him whereas I could see Schneiderlin go for half that. It's true a club our size shouldn't worry about spending money but spending £50m on a player who's capable of throwing his tons out of the pram does seem a bit risky especially with having VG as manager.

What about Mane or Wanyama if we are to look at Southanpton's midfield? Both ferocious players with box to box energy and a lot cheaper in the long run? Just a thought?

I guess no one would say no to Pogba. But I get what you mean Hammy, and I completely agree with this. Besides, I'd rather invest in a "lower" profile like Schneiderlin as I think we have enough big-names already. It may seems strange to say, but I think we lack a solid core in this team, which our more creative and big-name players can rely on (more or less what someone like Carrick has been doing for years). Schneiderlin imo fits the type of players we should go after to balance the side properly. I could see a midfield three of Blind, Schneiderlin and Herrera doing wonders for our balance and moreover be very hard to play for any team.

Schneiderlin is exactly what we need, he'd walk into any side in the league but seems LVG is waiting for a certain Dutchman. I say grab them both

but seems LVG is waiting for a certain Dutchman To be fair, this is worrying me a little in the sense that I have no idea how Strootman has recovered from his injury. I don't see how paying more for a potentially crocked player is smart when you have a healthy and fit player who knows the league, who is young and who fits 100% the profile you're looking for. If Van Gaal wants to buy someone from Roma, I'd rather he goes for Nainggolan at this point, and get us that powerful box-to-box we've been crying for for ages

He was massively important from 2008-2011, before that he was always a bit of a joke amongst fans, I remember him being slagged off as much as Cleverley was, then the penny dropped and he started to improve and became an integral part of our side. It's a shame about his illness but he's got a United career to be proud of.

Not to forget that as a person, he was such a genuinely likeable guy and someone who would always give at least 105% for the team no matter how shit he was playing.

If we only had him in that CL final 2009. Maybe we wouldn't won anyway but still...
