2-0. Fletcher again, Rochdale are woeful at the back. Their keeper comes rushing out and completely misses the ball, Fletcher slots it into an empty net.

Warren Joyce doesn't half make a racket. Great u21 coach though, I bet they're all terrified of him.

Good save from young Henderson to keep us 2-0 up. Been shite in truth this game, we've not done an awful lot, just gifted 2 goals by their defence.

2-1. Good finish.
Half time now. We've been poor in truth despite going 2-0 up early on. Varela has been a bright spot but our best player has been Donald Love in central defence. 3 or 4 great tackles and he's been decent on the ball, good to see him carrying over his form from last season.

3-1. Fletcher hat trick from a penalty. Looked like the defender got the ball to me but that's life.

3-2. Peno, poor defending from Tuanzebe. He's been poor all night to be honest.

Sublime reflex save from Henderson to keep us 3-2 up. Seriously if it was a prem keeper they'd be raving about it, wonderful save.

Another fine save from Henderson to keep us in front. Long range shot swerving to his right and he tips it over the bar.

Game over won 3-2. Largely unimpressive. Fletcher got a hat-trick but he had very little service for most of the game, his 3 goals came from a penalty and defensive errors from the Rochdale defence. Harrop showed a few glimpses of those silky moves but on the whole was ineffective.
I thought Varela looked really good. Defensively he's always been completely sound and is still decent going forward but Love was the man of the match for me. If it wasn't for him we'd have lost this game. A few superb tackles. The keeper made some superb saves as well.

U21s: #mufc v Everton (H) - Johnstone; Varela, Tuanzebe, Love, Borthwick-Jackson; Fosu-Mensah, Goss; Weir, Harrop, Lingard; Wilson.
Wilson, Lingard and Johnstone all starting tonight for the U21's, makes it look unlikely that any of them will feature vs Ipswich. I suppose if they come off early it could mean there's still a chance they'll feature. Pereira not even in the squad though, maybe he's certain to play vs Ipswich then.

1-0, wonderful goal from James Weir. Brilliant 1-2 on the edge of the box with Wilson and a great finish.

2-0, Wilson. Quality finish from the edge of the area to the bottom left hand corner.

3-0, Lingard. Goes through a couple of defenders and another quality finish. 3 great goals so far.

I just now saw that there's a U21s game tonight, already 3-0 up but from what I've seen in the comments on MEN people are impressed with Fosu-Mensah as well

Yeah he's been very good. Lingard and Wilson need to be getting some minutes in the first team though, they're just a cut above at this level. If they're not at least on the bench on Wednesday I'm gonna be pissed off, there's no excuses for them to not have some involvement.
