I'm not getting far ahead either. Just saying winning the league from our position is by no means unachievable from a mathematical point of view, although extremely unlikely from a quality of football point of view (on current form anyway).

If it wasn't for the end result I would have been really disappointed with today's performance, just another one to show how much we're lacking in strength and especially speed. Martial was the only one trying to create something more interesting, and while I would have been mad about him not passing some years ago, today it felt like the reasonable decision for him to keep the ball as everybody was losing the ball and being hesitant in the final third.

Completely agree Jie. I guess we can all be glad with the win, but let's not kid ourselves either: we were rubbish, absolute rubbish. And what's killing me is that we could actually be a very capable team if LVG stopped forcing his players into this rigid system, but instead adapted his system to our players' strengths, just like we did when we had an excellent run near the end of last season.
I completely believe the title is still within reach, but not if LVG remains that stubborn, and if our players start playing with a bit more passion and commitment because it's baffling at times how weak, how sloppy and how poor we can be, especially upfront where it seems we're not even able to attack anymore.
Liverpool, at least, showed some desire and had some decent attacking movements. But they're potentially even more rubbish than us lol. At the end of the game, I thought: "well, none of those two clubs deserve to be in the top-4 anyway.". And if LVG is to remain at the helm and stick to that footballing philosophy, we won't make the top-4, that's very simple.

what a win
play shit and still get the result. marvelous,
De Gea with a classic performance. Van Gaal should be thanking his lucky stars, that was horrid and frankly should have been his last performance if the scoreline was indicative of the actual final result

I heard LVG's post match interview. This guy lives in a different planet. If he truely believes that we played well anytime during yesterday's game, he must be crazy. If he believes that this form might win the league, then he needs to be committed. We were garbage. We should have lost had it not been for de Gea. Let us be honest with ourselves just for once!

We were garbage. We should have lost had it not been for de Gea. Let us be honest with ourselves just for once! Sadly I agree. I think yesterday was about as bad as anything we've seen this season. If the ball hadn't ricochetted on Fellaini's head, we would never have won that game, or if Liverpool had a decente nough striker, or if we had a Mignolet in goal. Not everything was bad, obviously not, but still I am really wondering what we're doing on the training ground, what LVG is doing, what Giggs is doing, what everyone at the club is doing. I am still confident we can all of a sudden turn it around and build a momentum, but LVG isn't giving us any chance to do so imo.

Should have or would have? Any keeper worth their salt would have made those saves and let's not start dreaming up fairy tales as that works both ways. Say what you want about LVG but he had a plan and they executed it albeit poorly, wasn't easy on the eye but it did the job and got the three points. Apart from the Arsenal match he's done very well against the top sides.

Apart from the Arsenal match he's done very well against the top sides. Yeah I agree. I would never deny that, it is one of the reason why we can still get something this season. But our play was sloppy at best, and the win yesterday doesn't reflect how poor we really are at the moment. It doesn't take away the fact that we won at Anfield, certainly not, but there is an underlying issue in our team and I am getting angry at the lack of response from our managerial staff.

We don't know what they are doing or what they aren't so it's hard to judge. www.espnfc.com/club/manchester-united/360/blog/post/2789370/resurgent-wayne-rooney-gives-man-united-anfield-winMittens latest, a little bit in there in some changes to training etc. to make the players happier. The players and LVG seem to be working together which is good and we've seen little bits of improvement here and there the last few games. Win at Anfield should only boost that, they need to regain their confidence. Players have been in and out, moved here and there, coming back from injuries etc. so over the next few games we'll see if there's progress. Getting Carrick/Basti back is important, Schneiderlin and the back four just don't look comfortable with Fellaini in there and nor does he.
