We where really unlucky not to win this one. Could easily have been 4 nil but don't get nothing for nearly. We defo need a striker, but who is available that can hit the ground running.

To be honest, tonight was better performance wise, but the way LVG has lost the players in the last 5 games or so, is simply unacceptable and will cost us this season if we don't react very, very quickly. I do believe he is a good tactician, but he is a terrible manager. SAF managed to keep his players competitive and hungry for 25 years, LVG is already struggling to maintain that hunger within his team after less than 2 years. I do believe he has to go. But not if we can't find a proper and quality manager to replace him. Leaving Giggs alone manage the team until the summer would be madness at this point. The top-4 is still within reach, but only if we get a man in who will build on from where LVG left us, has excellent understanding on the game and what's at stake, who will improve our attack, and motivate the lads like never before and resist the immense pressure that will come with the job. The team is too flat under LVG, and that team won't make the top-4 under his command. But the same can be said if Giggs takes over: he could lift the lads' spirit, but tactically he is nowhere at the moment as he needs to forge his own identity in the game by taking a job somewhere and prove himself. I am sure Mourinho is next if LVG is sacked. He is the only one available who can do that. But there is no long-term guarantee with him, as we know. SAF is gone and whilst leaving managed to leave the team in a shambles which is so far looking hard to rebuild from the ground up....deal with it..SAF is GONE...

It wasn't a shambles for him. He could no doubt have done something with them but he was due to reinvest if he'd have stayed anyway. What works for one manager doesn't work for another.
Problem for every other manager who follows SAF is he could make do with a relative shit sandwich and come out a champion - none of the others can. That's what geniuses tend to do. The rest of us mere mortals can't. And I include just about every current manager alive in that.
A temporary Giggs manager with SAF backing him up as number 2 would work for a short period I would have thought though.

I think he'd have to be a number 2 behind the scenes though. Couldn't imagine Fergie sitting on the bench as an assistant to Giggs.

Nothing would tempt SAF back. there's more chance of Hughes or Bruce coming in than SAF if LVG leaves.

Not quite sure how to understand your post, because my comment was not about SAF, but about the need to find a manager who can lift the players' spirit and motivate them for more than 1 season, because that's LVG's major issue right now.

Well, a day has passed and Van Gaal is still here. Figured if he's getting sacked it would happen after the Chelsea game.
Definitely looked more lively, the result doesn't bother me as I thought it was more or less even, if you exclude the horrific refereeing. I'm more worried whether we would be able to replicate this desire in the following games.

At the end of the day, we're only 9 points below Arsenal. Imagine if we hadn't fucked up against Norwich, Bournemouth, or if we had scored yesterday. Everyone is writing us off, but we're not that far behind despite an incredibly poor run lately and there are still many games to be played. If LVG can sort things out and if our players are ready to move their ass, this season is far from over.
If we can add that one or two quality players in attack, I think we can truly close the gap quickly.

Can we let the SAF issue go please ffs...! It's not an issue, it's a practical temporary solution to a problem if it arises. No big deal having SAF sitting behind Giggs steering him temporarily till he can take the 'L' plates off if that's a route they want to go down.

That's what I mentioned the other day before we played against Chelsea. 9 points behind the leaders and most of our defeats were away from home. We can certainly turn things around if we want to if we show the same desire and commitment just like how we did early in the first half against Chelsea, I don't see why we still can't win the league.

I think SAF will be sitting backseat driving with Giggs in the front seat.

If SAF didn't come in when Moyes got sacked after he had picked him himself, why would he come now after LVG if he gets sacked prematurely?

Events haven't exactly been favourable in all this and if LVG walks then it becomes awkward timing (again). But the year he retired SAF was never here, he spent most of his time globe trotting on business and other commitments, both personal and club. I would imagine things have settled down a bit more now.
If the above scenario became reality I don't believe you would actually see much of SAF it would be mostly be behind the scenes. Ryan and 'A'another coach (Muelenstein for me) would be the visible face of it. You would probably see Fergie in the stand watching in the birds nest, Ryan in the dug-out.
If Pep is available in the Summer then obviously they have a decision to make - but it gives Ryan another valuable chunk of experience and the club a better opportunity to get a top 4 slot.
I'd rather that scenario than being strong-armed into Mourinho now.
