Atkinson is a cunt, well now that's out of the way.
First half we were electric, challenging and winning everything going, creating chances and were desperately unlucky not to score. We took much more risks, high tempo etc. both fullbacks pushed right up and constantly overlapping so as you say can't fault the tactics.
Second half a little same old but we never gave up, kept on trying and once again we are let down by a lack of quality in attack. Chelsea were shit mind but you can only play what's in front of you so can't fault the spirit of our players but when it's not going for you, it's not going for you.
0-0 is kind of an apt way for LVG to go out if he indeed does.

Terry thought both teams would be happy with the result and he thinks they dominated the second half

They had the better chances though. The double save from DDG and the one on one miss from matic. We only had the Herrera effort.

That doesn't mean they dominated. And if you want to count that miss, then we should count Rooney's chance. Both teams were poor in the final third, but United dominated with possession and chances (even if they didn't end in much)

We had Martial's off the post, Rooney's as well. Pretty even on chances but we dominated them all match.

Sounds like he's staying put.
If it is indeed the case, onwards we go, build on what we have seen today, keep the shackles off and sign some attackers in Jan.

I agree with Matt about a striker, it's a must. If we'd have had even an Ighalo standard striker today we'd have won by 2 or 3.

To be honest, I think we need a physical type of attacker. Someone who will be at the end of crosses in the box, someone who can not be bullied easily, who can control the ball in the final third and get others into play, as well as being a good finisher.

On LVG. He's saying things like the board doesn't need to sack me. I think he's trying to save his job. I will be surprised if he's in charge of the next game.

To be honest, tonight was better performance wise, but the way LVG has lost the players in the last 5 games or so, is simply unacceptable and will cost us this season if we don't react very, very quickly. I do believe he is a good tactician, but he is a terrible manager. SAF managed to keep his players competitive and hungry for 25 years, LVG is already struggling to maintain that hunger within his team after less than 2 years.
I do believe he has to go. But not if we can't find a proper and quality manager to replace him. Leaving Giggs alone manage the team until the summer would be madness at this point. The top-4 is still within reach, but only if we get a man in who will build on from where LVG left us, has excellent understanding on the game and what's at stake, who will improve our attack, and motivate the lads like never before and resist the immense pressure that will come with the job.
The team is too flat under LVG, and that team won't make the top-4 under his command. But the same can be said if Giggs takes over: he could lift the lads' spirit, but tactically he is nowhere at the moment as he needs to forge his own identity in the game by taking a job somewhere and prove himself.
I am sure Mourinho is next if LVG is sacked. He is the only one available who can do that. But there is no long-term guarantee with him, as we know.

He believes he can turn it around, the players reacted today and with them on side he can do just that.
Given he still has his job the club seem to be backing him, there's no reason why we cannot finish in the top four.

Have to see Dave. Performance was very good today but the fact is we failed to beat a very poor Chelsea side. Wouldn't surprise me if our performance level dropped again in the next game against supposed lesser opposition and we get done again.

100 times better in this game, have no idea what happened but they need to keep this up
we looked the better side for most of this game, could have gotten the win if we were more clinical but oh well, its an improvement at least

We were unlucky not to beat them and the 1st half performance was the best I have seen this season. I have got no complaints about this game, players played with lot of passion and its good to see that.
But for me this game is immaterial, like I said before the start of the match win, lose or draw he has to go. He should have been sacked after the Stoke game and I thought he was there only because we didn't have much time to replace him because there was only one day between the games.
Looks like thats not the case, Cant see LVG going anywhere after his comments in the press conference.
Keeping him is a big mistake, dont think players will perform like this again under him. And replacing him with Giggs is going to be a much bigger mistake.
