You put someone like Cantona in an ambassador role like Schmeichel. Which he wouldn't take because it would take time from his own interests, he's a free spirit Eric. I couldn't think of a worse person to put in a heavily structured environment, like coaching / management, tbh.
United should always be an attacking, flair outfit. Period. All the managers who weren't attacking soon left, so that's the type of club we are. HOW you do it is down to you
If you can't deliver that football don't come here, don't bore people, they don't want to see it.

I don't think it's ever easy being a football fan, whether you're the fan of a successful club or not. I think many United fans around my age have handled the last few years better than many older United fans. A problem with a lot of older fans is they're stuck in the past and aren't willing to accept change. We'd all love football to go back to being less money orientated. More local lads in the side, thus more passion and commitment throughout the team but the fact is it just isn't like that anymore. It is money orientated and if you don't keep up with the big boys you will end up getting left behind.
Have to face facts that in the modern game, a name is no longer the most important thing. Of course plenty of players/managers still want to come to Manchester United because we're Manchester United but in general only if they're being offered the same or more money they'd be on elsewhere
We all ultimately want the same thing for the club. I'm sure whoever is in charge, whether we go with the inexperienced Giggs or guaranteed success (albeit maybe for a short time) in Mourinho, everyone will get behind whatever decision is made and will continue to give their full support to the club no matter what happens to us.
And if people aren't willing to sit with the club through potentially difficult times then they can always fuck the fuck off.

That's exactly why I love you so much Jamie.
Poetry to my feelings
We do legends or someone around to remind the new players what it is they represent when they put on the shirt. Look at Liverpool since Gerrard and Carragher left, none of them realise who they are playing for and I don't want to see that here.

Who would you propose to do this so? If it were me, and Fergie was fully willing and able to do it, then I'd get Giggs with a Phelan, Muelenstein (whoever), Fergie back room. I would be fully confident if it was done the right way that they could launch Giggs and give him a stable platform he would need for a couple of years. First preference would have been Ancelotti, then Pep, then team Giggs.

SAF is gone, Ancelotti is at Bayern and Pep is at City so we are left with Giggs plus anyone as the future? Sorry if I don't put my mortgage on that one.

How many more times, SAF has already said he'd sit in the background and mentor Giggs if VG was suddenly sacked mid-season. I wouldn't see Giggs hung out to dry on his own, nobody in their right mind would. Give him the right back room support (of the above) and I'd say go for it.

I wouldn't say no to that, but where does it leave us as a club?
Will we ready to move forward then with Giggs at the helm?

I wouldn't say no to that, but where does it leave us as a club? Will we ready to move forward then with Giggs at the helm? It leaves us taking an unusual gamble - but if it pays off leaves you with a young manager who grew up in Manchester, went through the youth ranks of the club, became one of the best players ever, won everything, spent his entire playing career under the best manager ever, already knows what it takes as a player and will learn what it takes to be the best manager. THAT, for possibly, the next 20+ years. THAT, is stability with the long term in mind. Giggs will have been under Fergie and Van Gaal (for a completely different education and perspective) and will have formulated his own ideas, which are very similar to Mourinho according to VG. Choices, choices, choices.

Its why LVG is downright hated right now and i struggle to see how Mou will be different. In fact when it goes bad for Mou, he'll start tirades against everyone, including those in the stands

So Mourinho has a friend, and apparently this friend has confirmed that Jose's confident he has the job this summer.
