Saw that article last night, great news if true, good change from THIS where they blame di Maria for losing the ball and bullshit about bust up with LvG when obviously that wasn't the case on both occasions. First of all, di Maria didn't lose his place to Ashley Young but to Marouanne Fellaini and second, he didn't lose the ball that much as they pointing out. But, he's the player with a huge transfer fee above his head so lets shit on him as much as we can while in the same time we're forgiving someone others for their worse showings during the season!

How's he lost it to Fellaini ? Lack of balance perhaps, because we don't have the strong enough midfield to play di Maria where he excelled at Madrid, ie LAM/LCM position?

He hasn't played that position for us though and I doubt that will change, Mata and Young are the ones keeping him out of the side currently.

He hasn't played that position for us though and I doubt that will change, Mata and Young are the ones keeping him out of the side currently. IIRC he played there at the beginning of the season in some matches? And even if he isn't it was exactly because of the reasons I've put, lack of balance in the central midfield. I don't think that he's brought to be a left winger for United, therefore I said he isn't competing for Young. Next season will prove this. He's also played as a striker, doesn't mean he's brought to be a striker for United.

He played there in the diamond but Louis has been changing his position all season trying to find a role, he's struggled to adapt to league and LVG's philosophy for me. There was a lack of balance but now we have found a system that we all agree we should continue with and Di Maria hasn't played that role once, who are you removing to fit Di Maria in. Di Maria wants to take people, dribble past a few players, maraud.. while Van Gaal wants to keep possession and shape. I don't see Di Maria playing tika taka in midfield, that's not his game but we shall see.
