I thought Di Maria was shocking against Liverpool, even the assist for Mata's goal was slightly behind him which meant Mata had to create something special. Other than that he was constantly losing possession.

who says coutinho and sterling are two of the best? The Livvies (pundits, journos and other different kind of Pool biased gits), including a decent amount of our fan base that posts on the internet. At least that's where I saw it. Those two getting much praise lately, including Studge.

I thought he was truly awful, arguably his worst performance this season for me.
Lost the ball so many times and made no effort whatsoever to get back in position to protect against the counter. Far too relaxed due to the fact we were playing against 10 men, something which I found strange because his work rate is incredible when he's at his best.
He badly needs to find some form from somewhere. It's easy to post up stats and say this and this but top players will always find a way to be effective even when playing shite. When you look through the numbers and see how poor the other 89 minutes are you have to ask whether several decent touches/passes are worth the myriad of poor ones. Right now with him I don't think they are.
He'll come good though, there's too much quality there for him not to.

He's been shit in his all round game, that's a fact but he at least can get credit for that assist. Agree with everything else.
I also feel the need to defend a player who's been called a flop unjustifiably by some media etc. It's easy for them to spout rubbish about someone who still isn't settled properly and had his house robbed at that. It's always just black or white for them.

You have to laugh at players like that; when spectacular, fucking stellar spectacular; when shit, spectacular stellar shit and little in between.

Yeah, like Nani. Flair players are a strange bunch, at least a large chunk of them.

It's way too early to call him a flop, and totally unjustified in view of is impressive last seasons in Madrid. However, there is no denying he needs to find his form, because he will end up on the bench regardless of his previous success or price tag.
What bothers me with Di Maria is the fact that he literally wastes possession and doesn't offer the same work rate he has always offered. I think we could and should be patient in terms of stats/Goals/assists (although it's paradoxically far from that bad), but fitting into LVG's plan & helping us retain possession, while offering the work rate and energy that is expected of you is the very least I would demand from every player.
As I said, I have no problem waiting for him to settle in, take a full year of transition, but at some point he too needs to pull his finger(s) out of his ass. I haven't seen enough of him, simple as that, and regardless of his need to adapt, adjust, find his feet, etc, which I can all totally understand, he is not doing enough to make it work. To me Di Maria looks more lazy and weak than anything at the moment. Change the attitude, and the rest will follow naturally because he has bags of talent.

It all comes from the brain. When he solves all the problems he has with himself, including his family he'll be alright.

I have watched the Liverpool game again, and must say, my earlier statement was a bit exaggerated, BUT, during the last 10 minutes, I still maintain he played some nice football. I will gate with the rest if you that he gave the ball away rather needlessly sometimes, and did look to be strolling around which is not common for him - he's a hard worker when he wants to be.
I hope and look forward to him regaining his form, on his day he is a joy to watch, if he is successful here, then Manchester United will be successful.

That's not bad for a player who's massively under performed in comparison with his last season at Madrid. Had a good game against Aston Villa when came on, the best from him in a while most certainly.

I'm pretty sure there's an option to lock him out of certain threads but then he'll be flooding all the rest
