Memphis wearing # 9 worries me, I don't want him to be a striker. He should take the left flank imo Hopefully he plays as striker only in the friendlies and not in PL.

I was more under the impression that he was playing behind Rooney

I don't know I just saw glimpses of the match and saw he was wearing # 9 and thought he played as a striker.

What formation did we play? How'd the newbies do? Possession game or all out attack? How was the defence? Do you shag on the first date?

Seemed like a 4231 with Darmian on the right, Shaw on the left, and Jones & Blind as cb's
Morgan and Carrick held the fort. Depay seemed to play behind Rooney at times but also switched with Mata to the right side as well. Young played on the left. Rooney was basically offside during the whole first half.
I got lost in the second half.
It was a mix of possession and attack. Nothing extraordinary but its the first match. Darmian was bright. Shaw is great going forward, seems risky in defense. We need to improve in defense.
Never shag on the first date.

Cheers Miguel. I don't care what everyone else says about you. I think you're alright.

Good workout for the guys. Thought we played some good stuff. Good debuts for all the new guys, was particularly impressed with Darmian, maybe because he's been overshadowed by the other new guys but I thought he looked very solid and good going forward.
Thought we actually played better football in the second half with the younger side, Pereira in particular was the standout performer in the whole match in my opinion.

Pereira in particular was the standout performer in the whole match in my opinion. Many are saying that with our new signings, there will be no place for the young guns. But I disagree. In fact, I think that the addition of solid and top quality players with experience will help us introduce the youngsters better. I expect Lingard and Pereira to break through this season and get a fair few chances. LVG is harsh but he will have no problem playing young players if they're performing. I am not saying Pereira and Lingard will be first-teamers by the end of May, but I think they have a future with us.

I agree, the best thing about a lot of our youngsters is that they're pretty versatile. Lingard and Pereira can play anywhere in the attack. Blackett and Mcnair can play full back and centre back. Their versatility is what will get them more chances.
I think Januzaj will benefit the most from a loan move. He's already broken into the first team and fallen back slightly probably due to a lack of chances. Sitting on the bench, getting a few games and playing for the reserves is of no benefit to him whatsoever whereas the other 2 could benefit from having their first full season in and around the first team squad even if they're not starting a huge amount of games.
I really don't want us to go out and splash the cash on another attacker, I'd sooner stick with what we have on that front and give the huge collection of young attacking talent we have more of a chance.

Oh I also think young Johnstone did well in goal last night, a few misplaced back passes came his way but he dealt with them well and seemed very quick off his line, smothered a good chance they had. Hope he sticks around as 3rd choice keeper this season.
