I am afraid it's a much bigger issue than losing a tactical battle for instance. I think this team lacks leaders, either player with a voice in the dressing room or on-pitch leaders (showing the aggressivity and desire in order to inspire the other). Take Rooney: he is supposed to be the captain. I am sorry but he has been atrocious in that role in those difficult moments. It's easy to be the captain of a winning team, but when things went wrong, did he fight harder, did he push forward, did he show more aggressivity in his one-on-ones situations, etc. Was he the example to follow? No, he wasn't and therefore he is not the right captain, it's simple. Herrera imo would make a much better captain than Rooney. We have to many gentle players as I have always said. It's about high time we got those aggressive and leading faces who will take this generation to the next level. Then let LVG do his work and get the faces we're lacking and we will move forward imo. If this is the case it shows LVGis right to plan big spending. Young was burried at the start of the season, and yet he fought back and is one of the only player who has cemented his place for next season. Herrera could get into the team, but he kept fighting and when he got the chance he took it and has been one of our best player this season. We need more of that attitude. If some players are showing no desire because they fear for their places, they can fuck off. I'd rather above-average players who will fight for the team, than other Di Maria's and world-class players with no guts. I actually pretty much agree with that especially with bold part. We'll need to find a new captain somewhere imo. Carrick should have been the one but he was out too much.

LVG will know the right balance in his head, especially now - plus Ferguson and the board definitely do anyway.
So I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 6 incoming now, if we can get them.

I know most people if de gea leaves would want bale or Varane but the way we struggle with teams that play with the low block we should ask for isco since he is a player that specialises in playing against teams like this. Rooney shouldn't be playing if he isn't up front and the privileges of being played of being captain when u in bad form should stop. We are devoid of ideas when Fellaini isn't playing well which is sad really.
I can take Di Maria trying to cross and failing when he is out of form and confidence than the dross, Rooney and Valencia were doing when in possession in terms of being too safe and wasting it time and time again. Really bad and not clinical today

Best chances: penalty, RvP shot saved brilliantly, McNair header, Mata's shot blocked inside the box. Any other clear cut chances?

CB, RB, DM, CM, RW, CS >> most important being CB, CM and cover for Carrick, DM. That stops us losing these fucking shitty little games and turning them into draws, or possibly narrow wins.

west brom. we lost to west brom
bus or not what the hell is this. we have lost 2 on the trot. that's terrible. Rooney was ineffective (for once) and RVP just came back, i don't think starting him was the right call. in all honesty we weren't too bad, better than everton (far from our best though, could still be categorised as a well below average performance) but come on we have to get 3 points out of these results
3 games left. i think we need about 4 points for third to be a certainty and i think we will get that much at least (realistically, close to full points)
posession is good, but you need to do something with it, something we seriously did not do.

WTF was RVP doing taking that penalty?..7 or 8 weeks out of the game...where was the captain to say "This is mine"..too many weak personalities and as I have said before why isn't Mata taking them? He has a cool head and can place a ball...disgusted with today if I'm honest...80% possession and fucking all to show for it...again

So on that situation I thought it is better RVP to take it.

It didn't work but that was not a blunder imo.
What you are saying applies to Baines-Mirallas and Balotelli-Henderson situations where the Captain assigned to take the penalties but someother player took it and missed but RVP is our penalty taker so it doesnt apply to this situation.

What I wanted to see was our captain actually standing up and making the decision and saying "I'm having this". It's on the pitch decisions that win and lose games, not what was arranged in the dressing room. If Rooney was up to the armband,he should have took that decision by the scruff, RVP was rusty and shouldn't have been near it...that's what I'm saying..
