I can't see what the problem from United's perspective. All depends on Dave's commitment. A player who isn't in the right place in his head is half the player. If he spits his dummy out then we're better off selling for whatever we can get. If we can be sure that he'll be at the same level as this season regardless then I think we've every right to dig in and accept losing him on a free. Big no to Mandzukic, decent player but not my cup of tea at all and much older than the age range of strikers we should be aiming at in my opinion. The only prime player I'd be happy with is Benzema, anyone else and I think we're better off looking for potential.

I'm working on the assumption that on the whole he's happy here, he has a shed load of kinsman who speak the same language and he gets on with here, and by all accounts he actually wanted a Ronaldo situation where he gets the clubs blessing and walks away at the end of the contract - club won't, and didn't, see it like that but might now have to. I'm all for the club ironing out any differences with him and have him perform one last season.

Yeah, on those assumptions I'd agree with you. Rather have him for another year for the sake of €25-30m.

www.foxsports.com.au/football/premier-league/epl-free-transfer-list-premier-league-clubs-announce-squads-list-of-players-released/story-e6frf4a3-1227392822449Abou Diaby's tortute is over. i think he would be a solid signing for any team below 10th. I'm hoping he goes to a newly promoted team and beats arsenal at the emirates. Boruc also got released, if we can sell valdes, Boruc would be a good backup. Actually, Arsenal could use him also Vlaar got released (not too keen now, if Otamendi comes in, there is no point, just bring him in, Sell Evans, Jones and Smalling are better in all honesty) he will get another premier league team. Villa better get a really good replacement otherwise they're going down next season Liverpool's best signing so far has been a release, the fact that they have released Johnson is better than the Milner and Ings signings combined Micah Richards released. He will make some team very happy i can tell you. Most premier league teams would be mad to pass up on him (well, not that we should sign him) Liverpool will sign him up at the rate things are going (sign all the city rejects) Spurs released Freidel. now he should go to the MLS and enjoy his time whilst getting paid big money. go home a champion, oh and he would still be in the national team (Klinnsman would be mad not to)

He's 22 and was bypassed for Mcnair who'd barely played for the U21's, that tells you all you need to know. He's not a bad player, just not the level of a top club. I'd be surprised if he's not picked up by a decent Championship side.

still, not even worth loaning him out and maybe getting a fee later?

but it would be nice to see a bit of activity from our side again. Glad we got Depay but the confirmation of Otamendi, Gundogan and/or Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin would be good. getting our signings done early, then maybe going in later in the window if someone is available would be good.

Get a fee? What's the point in keeping him and paying his wages so someone can pay us £1million? He's not good enough, simple as that. I've seen him play for the last 3 or 4 seasons and he'll be a decent Championship player, maybe a lower level prem player at best and to be honest that's only if he applies himself and improves.
At 22 it was a no brainer to release him.

If a player hasn't broke into the first team even on occasion at 22 then he is going nowhere at that club, best for both parties to release him.

Agree with what's been said before - best for both parties. I saw some people on facebook freaking out though "OMG another Pogba, and we should have kept Amos after a successful loan spell". So that was fun. Can't wait for the moment they announce someone like Nani/Chicha leaving
