Hammy you just pointed out his clubs Bayern, Atletico and Juve. All well known for their hoofball Is crossing hoofball? Pep and Klopp love themselves a bit of that.

Seeing defensive striker in the same sentence just seems so wrong I can see your point. He's been there, seen it done it and has great experience but our main problem now we have our defense sorted is scoring scores and I can't see Mandzukic suddenly becoming a 20 goal a season player. Obviously if we sign players like Dybala and/or Bruno then things most certainly could change and Mandzukic could fit nicely in. Maybe Martial and Rashford will step up but I'm not too fond of maybes. I'm talking about right this minute. I'm still in the I prefer Ben yedder camp. He's just as hard a worker as Mandzukic in pressing but the difference with him is he's lightning quick and I'd bet my house he'd score 20 a season. I think he'd fit much better in the system Ole wants to implement.

When Ed mentioned Fellaini hoofball was the first thing that came to my mind because with our plan b that's what it basically was. No structure to it just hoof it in his general direction and see what happens. When I talk about hoofball I'm talking about hitting it from well outside the box into the penalty area. City and Liverpool play a more controlled type of hoofball they try to get as close to the area as possible before hitting the ball into the box and normally it's not a let's cross and see what happens type of ball in but more pin point which makes sense because it's hard to play hoofball with players like Aguero, Mane, Silva, Salah in your team.

yeah, I think that one might be the sneaky blindside you one. Everyone is lulled into thinking Madrid have left it too late / run out of cash this window. I'm not so sure.

Zidane only came back because Perez promised him full control of the transfers. After what happened with Bale, Perez owes him one and that one could be Pogba. Pogba out with a back problem could be seen as slightly suspicious by some people. Not saying I'm one of them

No support cause the players outgoing are reasonably good and we lost for free (Herrera) and we're losing our best outfield player (Pogba) whilst we still have far too many useless donkey's at the club (Young, Rojo etc). Thats the main reason i'm not enthused and whilst Maguire is decent, we really needed a properly world class CB rather than just merely a good one given how dire our CB situation is.

Also Mandzukic in a high press would be great. The more i hear about it the more i actually love the signing (as long as its cheap of course). If we get him + Dybala for Lukaku and like 10-20 mill i'd be over the moon. It also helps Rashford to learn from such an amazing striker and as long as he doesn't fall off, he's good for 15 goals this season (not out of the world amazing, but good enough).

Maguire is one notch below VVD and hands down better than anything we have atm. Maguire has the potential to do exctly what VVD has done for the scouse. All the others that are above him are not premier league house trained. Get DDG back in top form and you've arguably got the strongest back 5 in the league with DDG, Shaw, Vic, Maguire, AWB - on form, well drilled and fit I'd back that against anything anybody has.

Ole on Maguire:
Hopefully the last little details will be in place and hopefully we can announce something soon," Solskjaer said of the Maguire deal. If he is fit for Chelsea match "Let's get the last details over the line but yeah, he's played a few games over the summer so we'll have to assess him if and when."

Bugger but if he’s not interested then what can you do. Rom is rather fecked though.

Happy Dybala is staying away. Definitely smelled of another Di Maria. Don't think it will effect Mandzukic. From what I read he wasn't part of the Lukaku saga but could be bought outright. I think the price was about 10m. I'd still try to sell lukaku to Inter though, even if they do only offer 55-60m because let's face it, he isn't worth more. At least it gets him off our books and frees up space for someone better.

Share the same sentiments except I don't even trust this board to replace Herrera, because, well, they haven't.

I think Mctominay could be the perfect player to take Herreras position. Actually think he'll end up the better player. Definitely less rash in the tackle, better eye for a pass and could probably play 3 games one after the other. Wasn't too keen on him at the start but he's certainly growing on me. One thing that worries me this season is injuries. We have a big squad but there isn't too much quality there as cover.
