wouldn't mind that to be honest but would rather put in a cheeky 30 mill bid for varane and see how real madrid react I can't see Real letting him go. He's kinda their future but then again, you never know with them...

Just to make people get a little over excited, the guy who first spoke about Pogba to United said Yesterday that Chelsea were in for Cuadrado. Cringey situation but I wouldn't mind it at all now. Lost him for nothing and couple of years later we buy him for an odd €80m! But that was another regime and transfer policy. Also, we now have the King of all muppets dealing with transfers. Edited.

I'd have him for £60million in a heartbeat, he's going to be the best central midfielder in the world, the club is in a different era now and the fact he left for nothing and could potentially come back and cost us £60million doesn't bother me at all. Pride goes out of the window when we're talking about such a talent.

And have him for 2 or 3 years?

Who said anything about having him for such a short amount of time?

Madrid will probably be sniffing around at that stage?

They might do but after paying £60mil for him and him being a few years older and better they'd have to fork out a hell of a sum to get him (All this is incredibly theoretical of course). But saying Madrid might try and sign him in 2 or 3 years is not a reason to not sign someone, he'll be signed up on around a 5 year contract and they'll have to go fuck themselves if they want him (Again all very theoretical).

So long as they are not trying to get him first, but even if we do get him, he left us before, who's to say he won't head off again for brighter lights than we are offering?

You could say that about any player, for all we know Di Maria might run his contract down and leave us on a free, Luke Shaw might decide not to renew his contract in a few years time, De Gea might actually ask to go to Madrid and if he doesn't get his way he might go on a free. I've never heard of not signing a player because there's a chance he might want to go elsewhere in the future, as any player you sign could do that to you.
People are looking at this from a point of view that it'll be embarrassing for the club to lose him again but for me you need to forget he was ever here. He's the best central midfield talent in world football and will be the best central midfielder in the world in a couple years time, I'd be delighted for that to be here, whether or not we had him and lost him on a free a few years ago and whether or not he decides 5 years down the line he wants to leave again.
Don't like bringing up the same Pogba conversations because quite frankly they've been done to death and they bore me, Fergie didn't play him because he didn't feel he was ready and Pogba didn't like the fact he wasn't being given a chance, he left the club for a valid reason IMO and I believe he'd have stayed if given the chances he wanted and most people believe he deserved. Nothing to suggest that if he did come back and was the focal point in our team that he'd be wanting out after X amount of years.

Just curious tis all.
He's got a track record though, Le Harve to us, then to Juventus, even if we did play him in that last season the move was probably lined up and we were powerless. He has shown no to loyalty to us or anyone so I don't know why people seem to think he comes back and all is rosey. Ever since he landed in Turin, Raiola's been angling for his next move, every transfer window we hear the same stuff though thankfully in the summer it will likely happen this time around - if I was a betting man it'd be on Madrid. You may say he's just looking after his client or Pogba is being ambitious, personally it doesn't sit nicely with me.
I'm not questioning his footballing ability and I doubt the club would care whether or not it is embarrassing but is it worth it to pay 60m or more and build a team around a player that is soon enough out of the door with no loyalty. All theoretical of course.

For his ability alone I'd fly over to OT to welcome him with open arms, but echo Dave's worries that 60m is a lot of money for a player who so far is largely unsettled no matter where he has been in his career to date. With a bit of luck I will be wrong, providing we sign him at all that is.

As I say it brings the old conversations about him back up. I personally think his 'disloyalty' is over played, he left Le Havre to join one of the best clubs in the world, he left us because he thought he was better than hanging around the reserves and waiting for a chance. He's been at Juventus for 3 years and everyone knew when he went they were a stop gap, it's a dieing league so why would a talent such as his want to stay around too long?
I personally don't see a risk or a problem signing him at all, as I say the circumstances at the club are now much different, he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet, he'll get paid handsomely, he'll be a focal point of a team competing for every trophy, whilst also playing in what is still one of the best, most respected and most competitive leagues in world football.
It's all theoretical and if I was to stake money on it, I'd bet he'd join Madrid in the summer as well but if we pulled off a move for him I'd be erect for weeks.
