He's supposed to have big balls, yet he's scared of Yeovil, Austin and Zamora  MK Dons was a side full of players he told can fuck off, not surprised they didn't perform. I still think he'll get top four, bigger plan ahead which I hope he'll get right but I'd like to see Adnan and Ander some time this year so for that reason among many others 352 has got to go.

Well if that's the case then you're right to sack me. I'm useless at the other oral. Talking is overrated.

I don't even particularly think the 3-5-2 is a major problem in the long run, right now it's irritating because it's stifling the attacking play but I put that down to not having the right players in the right positions in the 3-5-2. If he gets the top class Central defender and midfielder he will probably be going for in the summer as well as a better choice at right wing back, we could see Rooney up top where he belongs and Di Maria dropped back deeper where he belongs but as it stands he's having to fit players into the side to create the balance that he bleats on about all the time. We're missing a combative cm, Rooney is one of the most combative players in the side, so he plays him there, which means that we've no pace at all in attack meaning he sticks Di Maria there because Wilson is young and still learning so isn't an automatic choice to start up front. If we start next season with a side like this then I'd be more confident of seeing the 3-5-2 being used to the best of it's ability. De Gea Smalling Hummels Rojo Coleman Shaw Blind Strootman Di Maria Rooney Falcao I do think for it to completely work we have to be getting the wing backs higher up the pitch though, whenever you see sides using the 3-5-2 effectively the wing backs are more like wingers than full backs but our wing backs are often too deep. Don't get me wrong I'd still prefer to see a 4-1-2-1-2 and by the same reasonings as the 3-5-2 not being all bad if we have the right players, if we make just those 2 signings the 4-1-2-1-2 will be more likely IMO, especially against lesser sides as again he probably feels he's missing an out and out combative midfielder to play in that formation. The look of this side gives me an erection. De Gea
Coleman Hummels Rojo Shaw
Blind
Strootman Herrera
Di Maria
Rooney Falcao

Said my bit, we'll see what happens over the next few games now he has everyone fit and then see who he signs in the summer. What you've suggested may be where we are heading, still see him wanting more pace upfront though and I'd much rather see us switch between a diamond and a 433.
Anyway I'd like to see him give Wilson a run in the team, been talking him up enough so put your money with your mouth is LVG and start him.

People aren't happy when he plays Wilson and he doesn't score goals though, probably people who've never seen him in an U21 game. I'd like to see him get a few more starts if he wants pace up front, I thought he offered more in his cameo than Falcao did all game. If he's staying with this 3-5-2 with Rooney in cm, how about dropping Di Maria in alongside Rooney as I think he'd do more than Mata in that position both going forward and tracking back and start Wilson up front alongside Falcao/RVP.
I actually see him bringing in another striker in the summer with pace, especially if he doesn't sign Falcao up permanently, which at the minute I think he won't.

That's what I'm thinking as well, now he has his first goal under his belt he'll be full of confidence and with the teams we've got up next he can do damage. I don't understand why people don't rate him (Eric) he's got everything you want from a striker, done well in his cameos, give him the game time and he's only going to improve.

The manager rates him, starting him at home to Liverpool and having him on the bench instead of Falcao is enough evidence. I've watched him rise from U18 to the first team and I have never seen a young striker with as much ability at that level. I thought Will Keane was a big talent, Wilson has everything Will Keane has and more. He's scored 3 goals already in his United career in just 11 league appearances most coming from the bench, he's quick, can finish as well as anyone, scores great goals as well as getting in the right place to score tap ins, he has good link up play, fantastic movement and he also works hard. People who don't rate him have hardly seen him play, that's all I can say. In a couple of years time I think he'll be a regular for us and England, that's how good I think he is.

What you've suggested may be where we are heading, still see him wanting more pace upfront I think the formation showed above is pretty much where we should be heading. But like you, I believe Van Gaal will want to add more pace to his front line. And Rooney's partner should ideally have a bit more acceleration and pace. Wilson will obviously get a run in sooner or later, although I believe his role in the team now is just fine as I don't think he is physically ready to challenge the toughest defenders. But that will come with time as he develops his athletic skills. I am sure he will have more of an impact next season already. I am not sure either Falcao will be signed permanently, nor am I sure we should, because he will be 29 already. I'd rather we invest in a younger player, keeping in mind Rooney will probably not be first choice for 5 years anymore. What's the point of having Falcao, RVP and Rooney all ageing together when we could get a younger player who could be first choice and a direct replacement afterwards? If we sort out our midfield and our global game plan, regardless of the formation, I am sure we will be fine next season. I am still in doubt for this season though. Will we reach top-4? We definitely can, but no mistake will be allowed as Spurs, Southampton, Arsenal and even Pool are not that far behind. It will be a tough race, and to be frank I wouldn't mind a quality signing this January to give a boost where we need one.

I agree about the strikers, it isn't a priority position compared to others but I personally don't think Falcao has done enough as of yet to warrant being signed permanently and I think RVP, although showing glimpses of his class a couple of times has shown his age for the majority of the season. If we were to let him go and not sign Falcao up permanently we will definitely be in need of another striker, one full of pace and power.

By the way, a bit off topic, we now officially have a better defensive record than Man City this season (this was my sarcastic post for the day)

Ok, someone with pace and power who's also lethal in front of goal.

Where's the idea that van Gaal isn't flexible come from? I agree that he isn't in the sense that he always backs his own ideas to the hilt but surely he can't be accused of not being flexible tactically.
Yes, we've all had our complaints about play three at the back and his stubbornness to stick with it in recent weeks, but even then we've seen a back three with several different shapes in midfield tried, we've seen a 4-3-3, we've seen a diamond, we've see and flat 4-4-2, we've seen 4-1-4-1 and 4-2-3-1. Van Gaal has has his own little trial and error session on pretty much every formation in the coaches handbook. We've also seen different tactics, we've played to soak up the pressure and break, we've played to dominate the ball with slow, patient football, we've tried quick, incisive play through the middle and we've also had games that we've looked to get it wide and get crosses into the box.
I admit we've seen our fair share of games that leave you less than inspired, but we've seen more tactical variation in 6 months than we've seen in my entire lifetime. It's clear as day that van Gaal still doesn't know his best team, and we're going to get more inconsistent games as he searches for the balance and combinations he wants. As long as he gets top four then it is job done for this season however he gets there, it's next season when the real scrutiny starts.
