Let's not carried away if Neymar, Cavani, Meunier are out, we'll see.

Never really got going, the two injuries did us but it was a poor performance against a good side - which was gifted to them by an utter fuckwit of a referee.
Wouldnt say it was embarrassing, reserve that spot for Sevila. BIG wake up call for that board tho, we'll see how hungry they are to compete at the top level in the Summer.
None of that comes cheap.

Disappointing night.
There wasn’t much between the sides first half but Pogba was marked out of the game and our attackers never got going, perhaps too big of an occasion for them. I don’t understand why Lingard couldn’t have waited until half time to come off, maybe we’d have looked at the match differently. Then the second half, even though Martial and Jesse were pretty ineffective we lost our pace and threat in behind, think we made the wrong choices regarding the subs, Mata is too nice and neat and Sanchez is so sloppy, I know Lukaku isn’t in great form but he’d have given their defenders more to think about with his physicality and pace.
Attacking tactics second half were really poor, whipping in crosses to Rashford, Mata, Sanchez etc. it was food and drink for PSG. First goal conceded was poor, then the second came in pretty quick succession and did us. Again why did we leave it so late with Lukaku.
All that said, we weren’t embarrassed and we tried to approach the game the right way, just wasn’t our day. PSG are a very good side but hopefully we learn from today and give a good response in the return leg.
Finally, the referees a wanker (finger)

Ole:
"Mountains are there to be climbed, you can't lay down and say this is over We will go there, play our game and improve from today.
"Today is a reality check for us."

Clearly not good enough but no real surprise. We're a pretty crap side relatively speaking who are on a good run of form, they're a class side.
I think this is the real test, if Solskjaer doesn't get us over the hump here, sentimental feelings aside, i'd be prepared to go out and say that we should go all out for Pochettino (not saying he would have done any better with this squad, but we know he'd build a squad which can get us there).

If Martial and Lingard are out for any significant time, no amount of managerial voodoo, from any one is going to disguise the fact that we are short on first 11 quality never mind depth. We are behind Spurs for a reason - they actually have a better balanced first 11 than us. Do you see them overtaking City? No, do you fuck.
Ole doesn't fix it without investment, Poch doesn't fix it without investment, nobody fixes it without investment. You can go so far then you naturally get exposed. This is down to the board. We are 4/5 players short of a REAL title challenge, excluding UCL challenge. That's not cheap. It can be done but you'd have to do a lot of pruning and the lizards are not going to bring in 4/5 players we need in one window. You'll be lucky to get 2/3 we need. You'll get a CB, a right sided player and possibly a new midfielder - that's a start but that's all and it depends who you get.
Poch / Ole? Makes no difference at this point, there is nothing in it, therefore you'd be inclined to stick with who knows the club, who gets the club and spend the 'Poch' money on players.
The real danger here is Glazerwood choosing either of them because they can operate within 'budget constraints' and keep running United on the cheap. Effectively becoming Wenger's Arsenal where top 4 will do. If they are serious you'll see a restructuring of the club with a proper neutral DoF in place and REAL, SMART player recruitment and replacement. I'm on the fence atm..

Let’s not overreact to one first leg defeat against a very good side, who this time last year were spanking Barca. The club is heading in the right direction, got shot of misery guts and Fellaini, Ole has come in and brought the United we all know and love back with attack minded football and the results to boot. Last night wasn’t great but we were well in the game until a lack of concentration cost us, disappointing but better than going sideways against the likes of Wolfsburg and Sevilla. In fact our disappointment shows how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time which is a credit to Ole. United aren’t run on the cheap, we have one of the highest wage bills in world football, which will be rising further with the new contracts. We’ve invested huge sums on players but without direction or a long term vision, that has to change and all the talk is that it will. The key is hiring the right people, hopefully starting with the fella in the dugout

You give a well travelled 29 year old speed merchant, with excess mileage on the clock, a 4 year contract at 500k a week, only to discover his legs have gone when all the signs were there at the tail end of his Arsenal career. ...but hey, he's a name and shirt sales could be good. And you wonder why the wage bill is like it is. I'll not go thru the whole squad, you know as well as I do the level of under investment under Fergie's latter tenure and the knock on effect through the rest of the failed managerial appointments, of having to replace virtually an entire first team. Inept isn't in it. But Ole should be appointed, no doubt in my mind about that. He's hungry as fuck, sharp as a tack with a solid team around him. I'm not concerned about that. It's the clueless fucking morons above him holding the purse strings. I actually think you could be right about the penny dropping with them, which is why I'm on the fence, till Summer.

The key is hiring the right people, hopefully starting with the fella in the dugout Again though, how can we be so sure that this is just down to his managerial ability (which he certainly has, no doubt) and not just everyone being so thrilled that Jose and the toxicity he brought to the club is finally gone. Also you would think we were run on the cheap the way the board have been carrying on, we've only bought Fred and Dalot (Dalot is alright, Fred on the other hand......). I agree with what Edwood said, we need to spend major money, like 250 mill net spend in the summer kind of money to get this squad anywhere near where we need to be (i said net, because we should be selling a good portion of the deadwood as well).
