Nani

Well what they know and don't know is pretty irrelevant as it'll be LVG and LVG only who decides Nani's fate in a United shirt. We'll see what the future holds. Either way, I don't dislike him at all, in fact it's quite the contrary. I just hope he continues playing up to his potential and talent level wherever that may be.

You're literally the only fan that I've heard asking for Nani to come back so I don't know where this vast majority of fans who would have him back in a heartbeat are coming from. Whether it be online or speaking to my United fan mates, the general consensus is get whatever we can for him.

Which should be a reasonable chunk in view of him putting shiny tin foil and flashing lights on his head whilst in the shop window.

He was excellent a few seasons ago, playing with flair and arrogance, producing the goods consistently. But that lasted for about 18 months and we're literally going back 3 years since he produced anything now. He's at a club who adore him, he's the main man and being honest the league is a load of shit so it's easy to see why he's doing well. Throw him back into the limelight at Old Trafford and tell him to fight for his place in the side and I think we'll see the same uncommitted Nani we've had for the last 3 years.

I'm not saying if he was to come back I'd kick up a fuss. If he finishes off the season well at Sporting, goes on the pre-season tour and impresses again then gets told by the manager he wants him in the squad and is willing to accept he won't be an automatic starter and has to fight for a place in the side the same as everyone else then fair enough.

But the mere suggestion that he deserves to be here right now and that we'd be a better side with him is folly.

Manager confirms his midfielder set for Man United in summer

On Saturday Sporting Lisbon got themselves a disappointing 1-1 draw with Pacos de Ferreira. Several players performed poorly including star midfielder William Carvalho, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League over the last couple of transfer windows.

One man who did turn up for Sporting Lisbon was Nani, currently on loan from Manchester United. There have been all kinds of claims about his future over the past few months in Portugal and in ideal circumstances Sporting would like to keep Nani. The idea of a further loan and Manchester United continuing to subsidise Nani's wages, perhaps as part of a deal for Carvalho, has been floated more than once but the Premier League club have made Sporting aware that kind of deal won't be happening.

Sporting Lisbon's manager Marco Silva has spoke to O Jogo newspaper in Portugal this weekend and confirmed the midfielder will be going to Manchester United during the summer, because there's simply no way his club can finance a deal. Silva reiterated the point that Nani will be at Manchester Untied in the summer and there's nothing they can do to stop that.

"The president was clear: the player is on loan for a year and has conditions (salary) that are not supportable."

Nani's decent form over the season may see him get another chance at Manchester United but there have also been claims in Portugal that a sale is more likely.
