I think he loaned him out because in pre-season he was useless and didn't have a natural position. I stick by my comment. I don't think he'll play for us again. He's even hinted at that in the Portuguese media. So, van Gaal does come across to you as someone who's passing his judgements on players basing it on a few low type friendlies? I've tried to think that way but couldn't put my head across it. Also, Nani is not someone who has a fixed position on the pitch, same as Robben. The difference between the two is that Robben has much more freedom and is a main man in his team. If van Gaal gives him similar amount of freedom, assuming he's back and if played regularly, you could see a totally different player than what you've been watching last couple of seasons.

Nani will NEVER be the main man in our team... that's painfully obvious. A good loan spell doesn't mean he's a completely different player- he's still the same Nani that has underperformed for close to 4 seasons prior. No one questions his talent, but when you're not consistent then you won't be in Van Gaal's team for long. LVG said he gave every player ample time to impress him throughout preseason and that he would let the ones know that weren't needed. Nani had his chances and LVG told him he wasn't going to be a part of his team. It's as simple as that. I'd be surprised, really surprised if he wasn't sold soon. I think he would've been sold this summer but a fee couldn't be agreed.

I also can't see Nani coming back in our team.
Yes Jamie maybe it's purely pyschological - he's back in form when back home and feeling the lurve I just can't see him ever producing enough consistent performances to make him a dead cert starting 11 player for United
It's a shame ... his career has not really lived up to his potential and also the fans expectations.

I never wanted Manchester United to be second to anybody. Only the best would be good enough

have to agree with Rach there,he had a shot and it didnt work unfortunately, his time is prob up at OT and the fact he did sign a 5 year contract means we might be able to get a few quid for him or else get our pick of Sporting players ( if they have any decent ones that is)

I think it's a matter of him falling in the category of players we would like to give a chance to fulfill themselves but time has shown that they are not going to achieve that.
Anderson is on that list... Cleverley was on that list... etc.
There comes a point where you have to give up on them and let them go. Nani has overstayed his visit and if he does move on, all we can do is hope he does well elsewhere.

Nani's time here wasn't all that poor, atleast not the whole of his 5 or 6 years here was poor.. He had seasons he was decent.. I think the 09/10 season he was great scoring goals and making assists. But his time is up! He has gotten to the point where all he wants to do is impress rather than put his down down and play good decent football. His lack of discipline will definately irritate VG as it has irritated us

He was actually one of our more exciting players but he started his trend of playing very inconsistently. He had one amazing performance and then a very poor one. The last couple years, his consistency had improved... now he was consistently shit. I hope he does well abroad but his time here is up

I don't think he wants to either so it's a win-win. Get some 8m for him (hopefully) and move along
