Who are the best 11 players from the A-League in their respective positions? no definative answer but i guess GK Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide United) RB: Josh Risdon (Glory) CB: Matthew Spiranovic (wanderers) CB: Osama Malik (United) RM: Nathan Burns (Phoenix) CM: Milos Dimitrejavic (Sydney FC) CM: Mark Milligan (Victory) LM: Thomas Broich (Roar) /Fahid Ben Khallifah (Victory) ST: Andy Keogh (Glory) ST: Marc Janko (Sydney FC) thats just my opinion. you have the likes of Mark McGlinchy, Roy Krishna, Besart Berisha, Danny Vukovic. there is plenty of quality players.

How will they fare against EPL teams you reckon? would survive relegation maybe, honestly around that 14th - 17th region. and thats the best team. a-league is about low championship - high league 1 level (though the jets and mariners may be mid league 1, they're shite)

The central coast mariners have released: Zach Anderson, Isaka Cernak, Hayden Morton, Richard Vernes, Tom Slater and Dejan Paudurevic The jets have already released: Travis Cooper, Taylor Regan, James Virgili, Sam Gallagher, John Solari, Allan Welsh First of all, Robbie slater won't be happy by the mariners not too surprised by Vernes being released, waste of a visa spot and has been dropped basically. Morton is state league level, nothing more at this stage. however the rest, i am pretty surprised about. Cernak is the ultimate journeyman but he could be the new Osama Malik if used right (Malik wasn't highly rated at all before, now he is a fringe socceroo because of gombau) in saying that he has played some of his best football this season and was one of the better mariners players, he should get another a-league gig (very wanderer-es que signing) would love to see Zach Anderson with the roar next season. I think we should get rid of north and get anderson on the cheap as cover. that would go for almost every other a-league team, he would be at least good cover. as for slater and paudurevic. what the hell are they doing. they're youngsters and pretty good youngsters at that. they went after slater, and paudurevic has scored goals also when given the chance. i have no idea what the mariners have been doing in terms of releases in regards to these three, since you got way worse players on the mariners the jets, well they're shit, but the mariners did make some solid decisions (vernes especially) but some real headscratchers also

Adelaide United 2-1 Brisbane Roar
Jamie Young played a career game. 5 fantastic saves. we played so well, just fucking corey brown. for fuck sake, i've had it with him. mistake after mistake, needs to be released
United though the better team. Goodwin was gold (shows you the Jest are a joke to let him go and that GVE is a shite manager for not playing him). they need to be a lot better than they where tonight to beat a team like the nix, sydney fc or victory though. at this stage they will be eliminated fast
must be said, as the club who finished 7th out of 10 teams. we had no business being here. we only where in because perth cheated the cap. but we still didn't deserve it due to how crap we have been so this is the result we deserved
Crowd: 20,155 (the move to the adelaide oval was not a popular one for the locals. could see it on tv also, the fans looked like they where miles from the match, hindmarsh needs a serious upgrade, but yeah lower than i expected)
at least the roar can go and rebuild now its offseason (our CL campaign looks about done also, even if we win, which we have a decent chance of to be fair, we have to rely on results, and they have to be ridiculously one sided)
Frans to stay on as technical director, but not as manager suits me fine. Rado should stay. maybe bring back trani as assistant if we can. I'm more than happy to keep Young as keeper if he plays like this, however if the jets release Birighitti he would be ideal.
we need to recruit like crazy this offseason also, fair to say this season will be crucial to the club. will it bounce back again from a season of mediocrity (in all aspects literally). One thing is for sure, our youth players are the most promising out of any club in the a-league right now. Borello and Clut could be key next season. and the likes of Brady, Jackson, Theodore etc should be playing a role also.

Wellington Phoenix 0-2 Melbourne City
well that certainly was not expected. Nix were terrible, as were city, but the nix, that was central coast or newcastle level bad. its a shame also, because the Nix looked like the dark horse for the finals, oh well.
Crowd: 10 171
This sets up the semi's nicely
Sydney FC vs Adelaide United @ Sydney Football (Allianz) Stadium Melbourne Derby at Docklands (though their may be issues with it being at docklands due to the AFL being insecure pricks again)

in Short
Sydney Football Stadium to be demolished and a Multi-purpose venue built in its place to host concerts etc $800 million, 65,000 capacity rectangular stadium to be built at Moore Park Paramatta Stadium to be upgraded to 35,000
So, the way i see this, its really good for the Wanderers (who are limited due to the size of Parramatta Stadium right now) and really bad for Sydney FC (who, already, you can say the 45,000 SFS is too big for them, imagine them having games were 15,000 people come into a 65,000 stadium, it will only fill for really top matches) If anything they shouldn't demolish SFS, maybe put a roof on it and some rectractable stands that brings it a bit closer. I agree with upgrading Paramatta though
Now, if the Queensland Government can upgrade Perry Park and make that 25,000 that would be great

Also Ramon Tribulietx (someone please, how do you pronounce that), the current Auckland City manager (yes, the team who came third in the club world championship) is about to become the new Brisbane Roar manager
He will come in for 2 years with the option for a third year at $200 000 for the year. so unless something drastic happens, he will be announced as manager after the last CL game. Hopefully with some recruitment and a full offseason for the manager to get things right, we are at our best for next season

Any players in the A-League that could possibly cut it in the Prem? at the moment. Mark Janko could probably start in a lower premier league team, Berisha could, Milligan could, Andy Keogh in a select situation could (like a newly promoted team in need of a push)

www.wholeoffootballplan.com.au/pdfs/Whole_of_Football_Plan.pdfits a solid enough plan (nothing we shouldn't be developing towards) biggest issue is the lack of pro/rel. we will need it in 10 years. I still say a 2nd stand-alone competition should be set up in the meantime so that we have a transition between NPL and a-league (because the gap between the two is a chasm at the moment) a B-League or A2 League (Pauls Milk to be the sponsor surely) but the biggest NPL teams (i.e. your south melbourne's, sydney utd etc) should be there and potential expansion teams should be put in there also to test the waters, i think i've said this 100 times already but it makes so much sense. wish the FFA would see it that way though, its been almost 5 years since any expansion, the league is at its most popular, we have won the asian cup, we really need to change it up or the league will get stagnant and boring fast (in fact, crowds are down this season because it is getting a big stagnant) also shit teams like Central Coast and Newcastle are dragging the competition down because there is no consequence, so you can have dumb fat fucks like Nathan Tinkler sitting on his large ass doing nothing but be a detriment and coming dead last and there will be no consequence

Mitch Zullo leaves FC Utrecht, the roar seriously need a left back and is being linked with the roar
ideally we can ditch polenz (i.e. a sale to asia) and bring Franjic and Zullo back in. godly back 4, but honestly Ramon Tribuletx is like Ange, if he really is then Zullo as a left back is a very good fit for the style. City is an option but we really don't know what they are doing yet (plus Franjic will most likely land up there)
Miroslav Klose is being linked with the Wanderers, 2 million dollar deal, which includes junior development (so he will be their marquee player and have something to do with junior football for the club) if he comes in, he instantly is the best striker in the league. would be an upgrade over Juric scarily enough
