I'll kick this off with how can United look with Mkhitaryan Not that Jesse Lingard didn't do a good job on the right wing last season, but if we are to face intense opposition like City then he might be a little out of his depth. And after these Euros I'm not so convinced about Darmian either

Darmian's had a poor Euro's but you can see his confidence is shot, he's a good defender so should get another chance. Anyway given what Mou has said it seems likely we'll go 4231. De Gea
Valencia - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Scooby Doo - Carrick
Mkhitaryan - Rooney - Martial Zlatan
Or De Gea
Valencia - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Scooby Doo - Carrick
Rashford - Mkhitaryan - Martial Zlatan

yes, with that presser we can assume we play a combative no. 10. Players set for me are DE GEA ? - SMALLING - ? - SHAW ? - 4TH SIGNING MKHITARYAN - ROONEY - MARTIAL ZLATAN obviously Rashford will get his chances amgonst the front 3, right or centre oarticularly. The 2 definsive midfielders will be interesting to see, could imagine there will be rotation with 2 aging players. Hope Fosu-Mensah can nail down a spot in the long term.

Funnily enough, the player who fits his usual mould of #10 the most in our squad is probably Herrera. Be interesting to see how we line up now as I was sure we'd go 4-3-3. If we are to go 4-2-3-1, this is the team I'd go with: Dave Valencia Smalling Bailly Shaw Schneiderlin Pogba Mkhitaryan Herrera Martial Ibra

Oh yeah, like there's a chance of Rooney not playing I love that line up though.

Right, Pogba done. All sentiment aside, this is the side we should be going with when everyone is fit and up to speed: Dave Tony V Smalling Bailly Shaw Schneiderlin Herrera Pogba Mkhitaryan Zlatan Martial Even though I feel Pogba can be utilised in a 2 man midfield, he's undoubtedly going to be seen at his best in a 3. Rooney will start the season at #10 in a 4-2-3-1 but has to seriously up his game if he has any hope of holding onto that position long term. The last couple of seasons his football has been detrimental to the way we play and it's only been his work ethic and will to win that has made him important but with players like Pogba and Zlatan in the side he's no longer the only player with that mentality. Step up or step aside Wayne, simple as that. There are 2 positions which caused me the most difficulty in choosing who should play there. Firstly it was Schneiderlin in the holding role. I don't think he played well last season and in pre-season he's not been convincing. That being said I believe he is the best in that position we have and one of the best in the country so he needs a proper run in the side to establish himself there. If he doesn't start showing his Southampton form then Carrick will be my choice in there. The 2nd one was Lingard on the right. He had a great first season and has shone on pre-season. He's a Mourinho player in so much as he's hard working and does what he's told. I think he definitely has the potential to nail down a place in this side and he'll actually start the season on the right for me as I believe Mkhitaryan may take a couple of months to settle in. But once he's up to speed I expect he'd be the main man on the right in this formation. Alternatively he would also be our best option at #10 in we stick with a 4-2-3-1 as shown below: Dave DEFENCE Schneiderlin Pogba Lingard Micky Martial Zlatan These are our 2 best sides in the possible formations we may play in my opinion. Neither of them contain Rooney, quite simply because he is no longer number 1 in our side at any position on the pitch. Unless he gets a new lease of life under Jose, I expect he'll find himself out of the side by Christmas.

Not that I disagree but given that we've been using a 4231 all pre season etc. it doesn't seem likely that'll we change for now at least. It's now down to Mourinho to get what he wants from his players, I see Pogba playing a similar role to Cesc, with him advancing to the edge of the area rather than staying deep as he did with France and a player holding. Yeah so against the lesser sides and at home I expect something like this: De Gea
Valencia - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Carrick - Pogba
Mkhitaryan - Rooney - Martial Zlatan
In the bigger games we might need a little more beefing up/energy so: De Gea
Valencia - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Carrick/Blind Schneiderlin - Pogba
Mkhitaryan - Zlatan - Martial
I'd really like to see Blind in that holding role, with Schneiderlin and Pogba around him they'd make up for his lack of strength/energy/pace or whatever and he is free to then dictate and play his passes. Thought he did ok in midfield in his first season and has adapted very well at centre back which I think will have helped him to improve his game since he's now settled and up to speed with the league. Carrick won't play every game so he could be the perfect foil for us without having to adjust our style, Schneiderlin is capable of doing the holding role but doesn't have the same passing range as those two and also I think we'll get the best from him in a box to box role where he can get involved in attack breaking from midfield. It will interesting to see what our combinations will be, who will be the main man partnering Pogba, which of Smalling/Bailly will be on the right, Rooney/Zlatan partnership although the it's early days with that one but does have a RVP/Roo feel to it. Valencia has been excellent in pre season, he was a miss last season so a boost for him to be back and Shaw looks great so Valencia/Micky and Shaw/Martial as well. Squad looks good, very happy with the signings, over to you Jose...

I agree on Blind. He's the perfect replacement for Carrick, so if Jose fancies Carrick over Schneiderlin in that holding role it may turn out that Blind ends up sharing the role there with Carrick. He's as good a passer as we have in the squad.
I'm incredibly happy with the squad and we have brilliant options and depth in pretty much every position, with the possible exception of centre back.

Yep, that team seems to change week after week, but so far I'd imagine something like that: De Gea Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw Pogba Herrera Mkhitaryan Rooney Martial Ibrahimovic Such a difficult line up to come up with because I want to include a bunch of other players, but I guess that's the good thing about having a truly competitive team

There was a suggestion by ESPN that Schneiderlin would play a big role this season. If we have that 4231 formation Schneiderlin in front of the defense and Pogba next to him would be ideal, but for now Schneiderlin doesn't look ready.

I really think we should go 4-3-3 with Pogba. Either Carrick or Schneiderlin in front of defence and Rooney and Pogba in front. We all know this won't happen the way Mou sees Rooney but I think that woulk be the best system for Pogba. Would also suit Lingard and Herrera I think

The way he said it, and that maybe just me, but doesn't that sound like a 4141?
