That I can agree with Jamie about the time on the ball, but v Danny Rose? he shouldn't have been played there as he can't track back at the best of days and then especially against a fast and powerful attack-minded LB like Rose who is well capable of defending well also he is not going to get hardly any time on the ball. It beggars belief what LVG was thinking about there?

Aye. I wouldn't have him in the side at all right now but when we're talking about Mata we're always going to be looking at what he brings to the side offensively and he doesn't do enough centrally to warrant this outcry from everyone about why he's not playing at number 10.
He was superb at times on the right wing last season because he had Herrera covering his job defensively in RCM in a 4-3-3 formation it gave him the chance to not worry about the defensive side of the game whereas in this formation he has to do the defensive work himself.

Herrera and Mata is an entirely different thing and a flowering partnership. Fergie used to use natural partnerships all the time to build fluidity, cohesion and understanding (and therefore confidence). LvG on the other hand does not.

Yeah he's done nothing but preach about achieving balance in the side and coincidentally hasn't done a great deal to achieve it either. Everyone, the media and fans alike can see that a few tweaks in the side, even with the players we have would bring about better performances and results but he's refused to see it all season.

He's either blinded by his own philosophies or just a stubborn old bollox. We know that he is a good manager, but some of his decisions leave me feeling......

This season has lead me to losing belief in all of our players, including favorites like Mata and Herrera. And I love both of them, but I don't know what has to happen in order for this side to start ticking. I really hope whoever comes or doesn't next season we see things falling into place, because it's been a big papering over cracks again, which after the money spend is unacceptable. In a perfect world we would be playing a 433 with Schneiderlin and Herrera at the bottom of a triangle and Mata up front. That was you'd have someone with speed covering the wing and hopefully a more attack-minded full back

There is a missing piece in the jigsaw! That's why everything is falling apart.

I dont think we are far off, just a good manager and a striker and CB should be enough for challenging for the title. Give Messi and Ronaldo to LVG he will make to to play like crap, I blame the system for many players poor performance
