No need to go busting a gut when we've got Thursday to think about. It was a controlled and professional display, we were neat and tidy in possession, won the ball back quickly and won the second balls unlike on Thurs. For the first goal, Schneiderlin won the header which either normally would have chickened out from or would have lost, lucky deflection but it's about time something went our way. Thought Schneiderlin and Herrera controlled the midfield, much more assured with their passing bar the odd stray ball. The movement from the front four was good and they all played their part, Mata again in those pockets caused problems, got a goal and assist, Memphis had another decent display, his shooting was off but his link up play was good and played some cute passes. Lingard again in the goals. Wrapped the game up just after HT giving Pereira a nice run out, Keane unlucky with his injury and Riley did well as well. A win, three goals and a clean sheet. Lovely jubbly

Hahahaha Jamie nobody but him stood out but oh well. That game was tiring to be fair. I may have exaggerated a lot but he is starting to show more positive signs when he plays and he isn't lackluster anymore.

CBJ possibly injured so Riley could be in with a shot for Thurs.

The injuries are getting beyond funny now. There's got to be something behind them, training methods maybe. Young players like CBJ and Keane shouldn't get injured so easily.

Memphis is showing a few more positive signs but not much and we have to remember these guys we played tonight are not even in the same universe. 4th bottom of league 1. Memphis should be tearing these guys apart if he's as good as we think he is. I'm not going to praise players for controlling a game against this sort of opposition just a few days after they performed so abysmally against Midtjylland. Turn that tie around convincingly, then perform with some credit against Arsenal and they may get a well done from me.
There's been far too many false dawns this season for me to get carried away with a comfortable victory against the worst opposition we've faced all season.

One game is certainly nothing to go get all excited about, but at least we got a result and we are through to the next round. Hopefully that will give the players some more motivation in the upcoming games, because it really is a tough schedule considering the amount of injuries and the squad size to begin with. About the game - Borthwick-Jackson was probably the one who impressed me the most until he had to go off, Memphis shots were just horrific, but compared to the rest he was not afraid to get his foot in. Overall - boring performance, but job done and with a good result at that.

Yes job done .............. which against Shrewsbury should have been a foregone conclusion - but not this season Memphis should have done better - when you consider the opposing team ..... yes it was a brighter effort from him but still way below expectations. I'm hoping that he can grow into English football but the transition Martial made in his first season over here puts Memphis well into the shadows. Surely Wilson has to be called back now - so sorry for Keane but then you have to ask what was his warm-up routine before coming on ............... So LVG has won 1 of the 3 crunch matches this week Is this just a stop gap result in a downward spiral or can the whole squad of staff and players lift themselves on from here ? If he wins on Thursday and on Sunday will Jose still be an option ????
