I'm personally impressed by Lingard. Yes, some heavy touch & some poor finishing at times, but he is lively, he brings movement, positive arrogance (unlike Depay), some dribbling in the side and a desire to attack and take on his defender. Everytime he plays he has at least a couple of clear chances, and that's a major improvement on what we have seen lately. And he is not that wasteful for a young player with little experience. I actually think he is already so much more mature and composed than Depay for instance.
Lingard has been given a chance, and I believe he has taken it brilliantly. He belongs to the starting eleven for the time being.
It's quite funny how we pay 60M for Di Maria, 30M for Depay, etc. and all we needed was perhaps to give Lingard a fair chance. I may repeat myself, but I'd rather we stick to players who may not be your usual world class type, but who display the spirit you expect at United. Lingard is in that bracket and I sincerely hope we keep him. Don't get me wrong, I want some world class players brought in as well (and perhaps Lingard will become a class player BTW), but it has to be a well-balanced addition. No one ever wins anything with 11 world-class players.

Bit more polish, bit more maturity decision making wise, and the all important consistency, which comes with time and playing and he'll be a solid starter.
Like I said before you win back to back titles with homegrown Lingards spattered throughout the squad, you don't without. Those are the people you build clubs on.

Exactly Ed, we won our titles, doubles etc with a spine of homegrown players where the likes of City, Chelsea and Arsenal have failed to win consistently with the foreigh players being bought in every season or so.
