Very glad we picked things up after Crystal Palace, we showed a lot of spirit tonight and desire to win above all. I have to say I thought CSKA would be an easier opponent but they were really compact today and made it difficult for us. With that being said, a deserved victory for us, we controlled the game from start to finish. With better finishers we could have put 3-4 past them, but I'll take a victory any day. Defense was solid as usual, special praise for Lingard who was just superb - hands down his best performance in a United shirt, and him and Martial were looking dangerous today and running at people. Rooney scored...so that's better than the previous one.

I think Rooney was better, wasn't as sloppy on the ball and sprayed it about pretty well. Still expect more from him but compared to recent standards he was definitely better.

I think I might have been a little harsh on him but that's following weeks of annoyance. Still nowhere near to what he needs to be, but I'll take it. Memphis on the other hand was even worse than last time. Dunno what's happening there, but I hope he sorts it out soon

Rooney was good tonight along with Carrick and Smalling (again). Kept at it against a fucking pig of a side to break down, so kudos for getting a result really.
Memphis needs a brain transplant or shrink, his whole demeanour is fucking way off

Yeah I thought Carrick and Schweinsteiger controlled the game beautifully. Proved that they can work as a pairing in certain types of games.

Just another point, before the game the 4 stooges on SSN were playing down how good we are defensively, saying it's easy to make a team defend better. As bad as we've been going forward, we've been outstanding at the back. 1 goal conceded in 6 games since we lost 3-0 to Arsenal is exceptional and our defence deserves as much credit as our attack deserves criticism.

Well we made hard work of that but got there in the end, a win, a goal and three points is what matters. Great intent for the first 20 minutes and the last 20, the middle bit was a bit meh, the decision making of the players needs to be better, too many touches and holding onto the ball for too long allowed CSKA to easily set themselves. The play in the final third left a lot to be desired for the most part. Great save from Dave and block by Smalling otherwise it could have been very different, Lingard was brilliant, very lively and got into good areas just his touch and final ball let him down at times but he got it right when it mattered so that's what counts. Rooney was better today off Martial, spread the play well and got the crucial goal hopefully he'll kick on now. I don't see why LVG took Martial off for Fellaini though and Memphis needs to sort himself. Serious work to do in attack on that training ground.

Glad we won ..... understatement of the year lol and Full marks for staying power from our players
but really WTF was the lack of awareness of our offside positionning going forward ...... was painful to see that 3 or 4 players at a time were caught out so easily and not just once
Well done Rooney ......... a true Captains goal .......... they will still be out for your blood tomorrow but when all said and done that may well be the goal that gets us through to the next stage.
DDG and the defense scramble kept us in it ..... electroshock and then we finally score
Bring on West Brom a convincing 3:0 win would really do us a power of good and get things clicking.... hopefully

It's contagious lol Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal calls defender Chris Smalling 'Michael' in second embarrassing name gaffe Louis van Gaal dropped a clanger after Manchester United's win over CSKA Moscow by getting Chris Smalling's name wrong again. Van Gaal made the mistake of calling the defender 'Mike Smalling' while sat alongside him at a press conference in San Jose during United's pre-season tour in July. And it seems the United manager is still to learn the centre-back's proper name. The United manager said: 'David de Gea saved us and after that Michael Smalling has saved us.' Smalling recently spoke about the case of mistaken identity for the first time. 'The players don't call me Mike, but a lot of the fans do,' Smalling said with a smile after United's 0-0 draw with Manchester City last month. 'Even if you go to Russia or wherever, it's 'Mike! Mike! Mike!' 'It's going to stick with me forever, that one.' www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3302799/Manchester-United-boss-Louis-van-Gaal-calls-defender-Chris-Smalling-Mike-again.html#ixzz3qVc3I2la
