Yep, very confident. Don't fuck it up guys. It'll be a tough uphill battle to qualify for the next round if we lose this game.

You've gotta win you home games especially after losing away in the first. Looks like a very attacking line-up with a solid balance in the middle. Schurrle on the bench is a surprise.

What was Valencia doing for that first goal..
We got back into it though, Mata peno nicely tucked away and had other good chances, Roo should have scored.
Still looking a little shaky at the back though.

Good win Mata classy, Darmian and Smalling brilliant and Martial looking dangerous as always. Lost our way towards the end but saw it out.

Yeah I thought we absolutely bossed it for 60 minutes besides their goal. Rooney and Memphis both missing good chances especially Rooney. The last half hour was poor, couldn't keep hold of the ball to save our lives but we held on with Smalling being an absolute beast yet again.
Thought Rooney was poor throughout, sloppy in possession and missed that chance. But he made a vital clearance and as always was running himself into the ground at the end.
Memphis needs time on the bench for me, very disappointing. His final decision is that shit it looks like he's not even trying to do anything. It's getting to the stage that I'm thinking he's going to lose it every time he gets the ball, it's all too predictable. Compare him to Martial who once again was a menace whenever he was anywhere near the ball. I still think Memphis is supremely talented but he's not done enough these opening weeks and has had enough chances. Injuries permitting I want to see Young replace him vs Arsenal.
All in all it was a good night, especially with CSKA beating PSV. It means we're all level again now and I fancy us to go on and top this group now.

I am really frustrated we looked so vulnerable at the end. Where was Rooney? Or Mata or anyone with more experience to bring calmness to the side and lead the team, literally?
It was a good football game and we showed good things but the last 15min or so were unacceptable. We play at slow tempo with meaningless possession more often than not, and when it would truly help us to do so, we throw the ball forward and drop deeper and deeper. 5 more min and we would have conceded.
Smalling was excellent, Mata was decisive as he usually is in big games, Martial truly looks like the most promising forward, and everyone did one's part.
I am just worried at Rooney's lack of impact: He doesn't win enough of his challenges, he has been beaten too often with too little resistance, his first touch isn't good enough yet and his overall play is just decent, but not at the level required to make us move forward as a team. I expect a lot more from him to be honest. It was easy to play well against Sunderland but now he has to show he can still make it in the big games. It sounds harsh, I know, but I believe he is simply not good enough at this stage to be in that n°10 role. And he is not going to move Martial away from that n°9 spot.
Depay though is the one who is frustrating me at the minute. I knew that time would come sooner or later, because he is young and is a "work in progress". But right now he needs to keep his head on his shoulder, work harder and perhaps be more "plain & simple" in his game instead of always trying to impress.
Glad with the 3 points and what I saw. But I really regret that last 15min. They highlighted the lack of experience and leadership in this team.

Champions league group B, all teams have three points and a goal difference of zero.
I'm happy winning a vital game which could have risked progression. After they scored we came back well to create a lot of chances. Mata, Schweinsteiger and Martial shone in that period. One of Rooney or Memphis should have scored. They both had a bad game. Rooney hasn't been himself in the tougher games where he should be leading by example. Once Schweinsteiger was off, I was waiting for the final whistle. Normally Carrick would have replaced him and brought some control.
We could have dominated the entire game and won comfortbaly. Nevertheless, the points were important.

Wouldn't say the side lacks experience and leadership. It's the first time this season we've had our backs completely against the wall and we still managed to see it through (also coming from behind again). Rooney's game was shocking but even he played his part in the end, clearing off the line.
We showed a different side to ourselves tonight. Even when the the passing game goes to shit we can still dig in, fight and see the game out.

I'd also add that the ref didn't help us at all tonight. Every 50/50 went their way, he was throwing yellow's around for absolutely nothing and blowing far too often for absolute nothing challenges. One of the worst reffing performances I've seen in a while and that's saying something considering I watch the Premier league every week.

Morgan was lucky to have stayed on the pitch though. That tug at the end was a definite yellow and a 2nd yellow for him. Really disappointed with memphis. His final decision lets him down time and again. Just not showing what he's capable of. I would love to have young playing right side against Arsenal this week. However, who's gonna play rb with toni v out?

Once 2-1 up and deciding to see it through the team couldn't string a few passes together. WIth United's game revolving around maintaining posession I'd have been happier recycling the ball and keeping the opposition at bay. There wasn't attack after attack but they were nervous moments. It's not exactly leadership or experience but lack of personnel, I'd say. Carrick or Bastian, or any player of their ilk could have brought some calm. I agree though, being able to see a game through when being pushed is an attribute a good team needs to develop.
I haven't watched the replay but the first yellow for Morgan wasn't necessary or that's what the commentator said. And my biased mind thought the same.

Yeah the Yellow for Schneiderlin was ridiculously soft.

Carrick and Bastian are one player, one of them needs to be on the pitch at all times or we become unglued and get ragged. Schneiderlin looks like he needs a season here before he really steps up and looks omnipotent. Herrera being out is a real asshole, let's hope it's not for long.
Their manager is off his fucking head too.
