Another week and another midweek game, this time in the Champions League at home to Wolfsburg. Very important game due to us losing at PSV in the first group game and I'd already describe this as a must win. They're a good side but got hammered by Lewandowski in the week and were held to a 1-1 draw at home to the Bundesliga's bottom club Hannover Yesterday.
I'd make just 1 change to the side and that's bringing Schweini in for Carrick. That being said I'm pretty confident with whatever midfield duo we put out now, wouldn't be surprised or disappointed to see the more attacking 2 of Schweini and Herrera in there again, especially since we're at home.

Wolfsburg been poor. The player brought in to replace De Bruyne, Draxler is not playing up to expectations as well. I think we should go into offensive mode straight away. Play Bastian alongside Herrera. The only other change I will make is starting Young on the left back position and playing Darmian on the right.
De Gea Darmian Smalling Blind Young
Bastian Herrera
Mata Depay
Rooney
Martial

Probably a bit too attack minded for my liking (I can't believe I just said that  ) I do rate Herrera highly but I personally would prefer Schneiderlin who would offer more protection to the back 4 leaving Basti to do what he does best which is control games and set up attacks. With the attacking talent we have (even though they've yet to fully gel) we don't have to go too gung ho. If we move the ball about at a quicker pace then I can only see one outcome.

United have done pretty well in the past few games. This game begins a tricky period for United with games away to Arsenal, Everton and Moscow followed by the derby at home and the COC fixture. There is an international break in between which could break any rhythm we establish. I know we should take it one game at a time but good results in this period will see us in a very healthy position in all three competitions. It also gives us a chance to see how far this team has progressed. LvG must have realized the importance of this game. At home, I'm expecting a win.

First game of a very tough month that will define our season. Many complicated fixtures, but a golden chance to re-establish ourselves as the dominant force in England.
I hope the lads are up for it!

Michael Carrick one of four missing from Man United training ahead of Champions League tie
MICHAEL CARRICK was one of four absentees as Manchester United trained ahead of tomorrow's Champions League game with Wolfsburg.
The England midfielder started the win over Sunderland, but did not feature in the session at Carrington.
Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia were also missing.
Youngsters James Weir, Donald Love and Josh Harrop were drafted in to train with the first team.

Hopefully it's just precautionary with a couple of them, we'll find out at the presser later on. Good to see some of the kids getting a chance to train with the first team anyway. Donald Love was very good last year and from what I've seen this year has carried on where he left off, Harrop is a talent but inconsistent. Weir is solid without being spectacular.

The manager has said Carrick shall not play. Ander and Valencia have minor injuries and 'may' not play. It's more of a precaution than anything and is similar to the Rooney situation. Unless I missed it, there were no updates on Rojo and McNair, so I assume they are fit. Bastian was beside the manager and it was good to hear him. It seemed more like his presser than the manager's.
I think it will be a similar formation with alteration at the back. Jones could play RB while Darmian continues on the left. De Gea Darmian Smalling Blind Young Morgan Bastian Mata Rooney Memphis Martial
They have a good attacking trio of Schurrle, Draxler and Dost. While Dost is doing well the other two are not on form but have the ability to hurt us though. I'm not sure if Luis Gustavo plays. They have Naldo and Dante who will form a good pairing.

Varela was training with the first team too along with the three youngsters. But it will be a surprise to see him start. If Carrick, Herrera and Valencia don't play then Pereira, Lingard or Wilson may make the bench.

Should have been been two or three up but a coolly taken penalty.
Warren's got them playing in a very VG like manner. Like it's identical to how the first team use the width and attack from there and keep possession.
