Just 2 days before we get our Champions league campaign properly under way. What team do we go with? I'd find it very hard to leave Memphis out despite him underperforming so far in the league. He's been good in our 2 European games and my sentimental side wouldn't let me leave him out with him being up against his old club. I'd be very tempted to play him up front though instead of out wide. Keeper and defence speaks for itself and despite me still wanting us to revert back to a 4-3-3, I don't see it happening so I'd go with this as our front 6: Schnei Schwein Mata Herrera Young Memphis Not been impressed with Mata in the league but I think he'll be able to be much more effective on the right in Europe. Fellaini isn't a striker, he can do a job there as a plan B if you're chasing a game but he doesn't have the know how to be a number 9 for 90 minutes. Memphis has the power, pace and energy to trouble his old club as a number 9. Young can count himself unlucky to lose his place in the side originally anyway, his 2nd half display Yesterday should get him back into the side for me, he was incredibly effective as he was last season. Full back's don't like players running at them and making them think, he can go either way and use either foot. Memphis has been very predictable there so far in the league, everytime he just tries to cut back inside onto his right and defenders are finding it easy to defend against.

Talking about 'mind games' or trying to unsettle players, this is what the PSV trainer had to say..
De Mos said: “Depay is not going to get one bit of joy out of his return to Holland. Santiago Arias, the Mexican international defender who knows him inside out, is going to eat him raw. Honestly, I am 100 percent sure that Arias will wipe him out.
“And if Daley Blind thinks he can come and enjoy a bit of freedom, or dominate the game again, then he will soon realise all the PSV players are going to be after him. They will not leave him alone.”
He added: “Smalling is regarded as a great defender, but he isn’t the best on the ball.
“PSV have worked it out, they are going to let Smalling have the ball all the time. They know he is limited in his ideas.”
EDIT: former coach long time back.

Rooney misses Eindhoven trip but young duo are included
Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has missed the trip to PSV Eindhoven with the injury he sustained in training ahead of Saturday's 3-1 win over Liverpool.
As expected, the striker is not being rushed back for the UEFA Champions League group stage opener in Holland, although manager Louis van Gaal did hope to have him available for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash at Southampton, when speaking at the weekend.
Youngsters James Wilson and Andreas Pereira, who was signed from PSV, have both been added to the 18-man squad that was on duty against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Pereira suffered an injury while away with Brazil's Under-23 side but is fit for selection again.
United's travelling squad: David De Gea, Sergio Romero; Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Paddy McNair, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia; Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Andreas Pereira, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata, Ashley Young; Memphis Depay, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, James Wilson.

Looks like the Wilson loan never happened after Rooney got injured.
I don't think we'll see many changes tomorrow night, it's important to start this group strongly, two wins on the board before we have to go away to Moscow would be ideal. And then it'd be nice to not need anything going away to Germany in the last game.
So I think it'll be full strength back four but think the midfield will be changed. Schneiderlin and Herrera to start deep with Fellaini playing behind Martial. Mata to keep his place and then the only question is between Young and Memphis.
I'd go with Memphis although Young probably deserves his place - Memphis' confidence would've taken a hit on Saturday so get him back in when he's got more space in Europe and hopefully he'll produce. Especially with the added personal incentive he should have in going back to PSV.

I'd go something like this: Schneiderlin - Carrick Young - Herrera - Depay Martial
Memphis as you say has been good in the CL so I'd keep him in, plus it's against his former team and LVG usually plays ex players. Young was impressive at the weekend and with the pace PSV have on the flanks would be useful, not sure we'll start with Martial but I think we should. Basti has played 270 mins in the past 10 days or so, with the rotation policy of that midfield I think he'll be the one to miss out. We will still have enough passers in that midfield and then the pace and quality from wide areas should benefit the front man.

I like the look of daves team. Young was really unlucky to lose his spot in the first place. He has been very consistant the last 12 months.

How long will the loan window be open? Any chance Wilson will be loaned out when Rooney returns?

How long will the loan window be open? Any chance Wilson will be loaned out when Rooney returns? It closes on 25th Nov so it's likely he will be.

Irritating that I'll have to watch it online. Debating whether to pay for BT but they can go fuck themselves. Can only afford to pay for 1 cash-whore sports provider.

De Gea Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger Herrera Mata Memphis Fellaini And maybe Martial later on, either for Fellaini or pushing Fellaini behind Martial.
