Thoughts on this one? Romero is a given, think Darmian and Smalling earned their spot, but as far as midfield goes maybe Schweinsteiger and Herrera?

Think we'll go unchanged.
Will be a bigger test for Romero and Blind.

A few changes from the team against Tottenham. Drop Blind and get Blackett in if Rojo isn't match fit. Drop Young, get Depay out on the left wing, Rooney up top, Mata on the right, with Herrera as AM, protected by Schneiderlin, Carrick/Piggy. It may not be Mata's best position out on the right but him and Herrera have a great understanding which can open teams apart and bring goals which can only benefit Rooney. If Rooney plays the first half like he did against Tottenham then I'd like to see Hernandez at some point. He could thrive with the amount of creative players we now have in our squad.

Expecting DDG to play tbh
I've given predicting what's in VG's head team wise. I think we'll win, but I don't think it'll be a push over.

That does surprise me, unless Perez is really only about 1 or 2 million short.

Just not going to back on his decision, he won't play until the window is closed.

I think LVG is right not to play DDG until this pans out - it also preserves the player - imagine the stick DDG would get if he drops a clanger. Some paper I read said it's exactly what Fergie would have done in the same circumstances ......... i.e. nobody is bigger than the club
Really hope Romero keeps it together - it's also not easy for the poor bugger to step into this mess but he has to seize his chance

Well, Dave's out, just as expected. I wonder if Rojo's fit, but I think he might miss out this one and maybe come on the next one, so that would leave the back 4 exactly the same. I don't think Van Gaal would change the front either, at least not until we bring Pedro in, so that only leaves for some changes in midfield. Not really worried about tonight's game, should be taking the 3 points

Defence and keeper will and should stay as it is. I'd like a change up front though and I think we may get something slightly different. Can't tell you what though!

I was not that impressed with Man Utd in the win against Spurs, and Villa got a good result in a difficult fixture at Bournemouth. I'm going to go for a draw.
It's 20 years since Villa beat United at home, and United have a hold over them. I remember being 2-0 up with 13 minutes to go against United - and we still managed to lose.
I like Villa's new signing Rudy Gestede, he's a good player and looks a good replacement for Christian Benteke; Tim should start him if he's fit. But I see this one being nervy and tight at Villa Park, with the hosts to score first and United to equalise.
PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

Not too unreasonable. We should have just enough to nudge it if we do a Spurs again 1-2

I'm wondering if Young only plays because VG still doesn't trust Shaw 100% because quite frankly attacking wise Young is pretty wank. The obvious choice would be Carrick, Morgan in the middle with Herrera as the AM, Depay out on the left, Mata on the right and Rooney up front. Perfect balance attack wise and defensively. VG insists he prefers a second striker rather than a third midfielder even though Depay isn't used to that position. I'd much prefer a team where everyone is comfortable in their position. Much to early in the season to be dropping points because a player needs bedding in.
