Brilliant first half performance, second half all went to shit, took our foot off the gas and seem to run out of steam. We need to kill these games off when we're in the ascendency rather than huffing and puffing till the end.
Young was top quality, Falcao looks a goner.
Striker wise we are really crying out for pace for me, Wilson should have been the one coming onto stretch Arsenal and get in behind, the game was crying out for him.

I am not so frustrated. I thought we were absolutely brilliant for 60 min. The midfield 5 of Young, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata and Blind truly made Arsenal suffocate. It was once again a proof of the improvement made by LVG this season. We were truly brilliant, and I hope everyone realise that. But we were lacking a proper striker, with pace, with strength and determination. If we had had that killer upfront, we would have been 3 or 4-0 up at HT and this would have been a walk in the park.
But the real issue is that after the 60th minute, when our players started to get tired, we didn't have the quality on the bench to make a difference, nor a real leader on the pitch to keep everyone focused.
This game is in fact just a reminder of what was missing this season: a lethal striker above all, and more quality in depth as we're still lacking a few first teamer imo. But I am actually pleased with what I have seen up until the 60th minute or so. Today we just lacked that lethal attacker(s) to win it comfortably.
This season was all about rebuilding in my books, and in that regard LVG has done his work and reached the top-4. Sure there are still things that need to be worked on, but the progress we have made is obviously excellent.

So a youth player concedes an own goal whilst playing at left back and you decide that means we need a centre back partner for Rojo? Strange way your mind works. All in all I was relatively pleased with yesterday despite the frustration of the last 25 minutes or so. Yet again we were utterly dominant in the first half against another possession oriented side. 68% possession at half time with Arsenal not having a single shot on or off target. Compare that to the away game when De Gea had to play out of his skin and we were first to play on the counter and you can see how much progress has been made. The season is over now, I wouldn't even mind doing Bruce a favour next week if it means the hilarity of Newcastle going down. All eyes on the summer, get the signings right and next season could be a brilliant watch. Season ticket renewed

You'd have to be blind (or a moron) to not be able to see the progress we've made this season. As I've said a few times this year, the performances against the other big sides is what gives me the most satisfaction. If we can continue to play that well in those games again next season I really fancy us for the league as I believe LVG will figure out how to break down these lesser fancied sides who put 10 men behind the ball. It's these games that have actually cost us being very close to Chelsea this year.
I'd be much more worried (as I was last season) if we were being trounced by the bigger sides again. It's not just the fact we've competed well in these games, we've been largely dominant against sides who like to dominate the ball themselves. Even the Chelsea away game, despite Mourinho saying it was his gameplan, he must've been worried with the sheer amount of possession they conceded to us.
With a few quality additions we're going to be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Cant wait for next season. We are exactly like chelsea were last season and we have seen what they turned out after some good additions. I reckon we could be CL semi finalists next season

I think you're right, Mani. With a full pre-season under LVG, a few good additions, and a squad of players who finally understand what the manager wants from them, I think we stand an excellent chance. I'm not sure we'll win the league, but I expect us to be in the hunt until at least the penultimate weekend. And I think CL semi's are a realistic expectation.

we've made huge improvements (i think anyone can see that) we just need to make a whole lot more if we want to be a real force again in world football

Poor Blackett getting all of the hate, but in honesty he's still a very inexperienced player and the signs for an upcoming goal were there before the substitutes. Frustrating when you've seen what we're capable of in the first half.
