It's weird with these time differences, can't wait to get back to normal time. Don't know about 433, I think he might stick to the 442, which will be disappointing because Herrera deserves a start. I'd like to see Smalling starting instead of Jones, or maybe Smalling and Jones together, even though Blind did well in the last few games.

I think Blind will be brilliant in central defence against the better football playing sides. It's away to West Brom and fixtures like that I'd be concerned about. I don't quite agree with the manager's insistence on having to have a right footed and a left footed central defender playing at all times. We seemed to cope pretty well in the past with 2 right footers!

That's why it's better for him to be playing alongside someone like Jones - he can take them down and Blind would do the more graceful defending. Maybe we can form Smalling - Rojo and Jones - Blind as pairs, although I remember at the end of the season Smalling was talking about how he and Phil are ready to prove themselves as a defensive pair

It was my understanding when we got Blind that he was gonna be CB for us and then Carrick being out forced him into the DM role. With the new boys now in midfield doing the defending from there, I don't see why Blind cannot become a regular CB.

Blind was almost certainly bought as a holding midfielder with the ability to cover in defence if needed. I still think he can do a good job in midfield as well. He's basically our new and more technically gifted John O'Shea.

Louis is a big fan of his though so it will be interesting to see how much of a role he will play.

Until Blind becomes a lot stronger and more powerful, he will never be a CB for all those "lesser" BPL games where those big and powerful forwards will eat him regardless of our tactical brilliance.
But I would have no problem with him at CB in more tactical games, like CL games.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. I'd have no issue with him starting in central defence vs Barcelona.

Them = stronger, sharper, better movement. Bit disappointing after previous displays, Rooney was too isolated up front at times. Can't say LVG will be happy.
...and we need a CB

Fear for Herrera, think he might be benched again like last season. Impressed with Darmian and Shaw, Rooney is poor, Memphis is lively, need a CB and never really convinced with Blind as CB and Jones was atrocious today, Midfield with Carrick and Schweinsteiger alone doesn't seem to work well.

No real injuries so after pre season and any complacency well and truly shattered. Spurs it is then

Might be the eye-opener that was needed before the Spurs game. We waltzed through our preseason last year and look what happened then in the PL.

Rubbish game and an uninspiring display, wasn't impressed with many aspects of our game. I don't like Memphis in that position, he's not a creater. Could have swapped him with Mata or Pereira in the 2nd half and I think we'd have been better. Am I the only one that hasn't been overly impressed with him on tour? I think he's shown his attributes, he's quick, skillful and strong but he's shown poor decision making in nearly every game. That isn't to say I don't think he'll be great, I do. But I feel the media are getting a little carried away at this very early stage in his United career.
I also don't get the midfield setup. I really think Schneiderlin has to play along with Herrera with 1 of Carrick/Schweinsteiger. But it seems like he's sticking with this formation judging from his post-match comments. He sees Schneiderlin/Herrera as the younger alternatives to Carrick/Schweinsteiger and I have to say if we're starting with a 2 man midfield and 1 of those combinations as the 2 I'd go Schneiderlin/Herrera every time.
