I hoped we'd buy this guy before we bought Fellaini Same here. But as you said Fellaini has finally found his feet with LVG finding the perfect role for him so I've no regrets. Besides, Witsel's best position imo is in the Carrick role. A position that imo will be covered by Blind on the long-term, and potentially Gundogan  Witsel's main strength is that he doesn't lose the ball, as he has the best composure I've ever seen, while he is very tidy in his passing and reads the game well. He is also very, very strong, but he hasn't got the best vision (in terms of creativity) or range of passing. You shouldn't ask him to make those long Scholes balls or David Silva's mean through-passing, but otherwise he is perfect for a possession based game as he adds great strength, technique and composure in the side. |

Don't rule out Blind too soon. But I agree that a fully fit Gundogan would be a massive plus in our team. |

I know many of you may not agree but if VG does buy Gündogan I can also see him getting De Jong on a free so that at least the team has cover in almost every position, wouldn't be a bad squad player. van Gaal may see Gündogan as his Strootman since he likes those type of midfielders, hence he tried to get Vidal.

why do we need de jong, don't see why we have to resort to getting shitty ex-city hacks for cover, especially since we have fellaini playing well (if anything, shouldn't we be upgrading)

Don't rule out Blind too soon Sorry mate, just don't see him anything close to Carrick's natural attributes, but in no way I would rule him out of playing alongside someone who'd cover in for him. Playing holding mid or an anchor, deep-lying playmaker on his own is a huge task for a player of Blind's attributes compared to Carrick's like for like. We'll probably change that in the future like we changed our game with Carrick compared to Keane time. Blind as a left back is a different story though. |

Blind's my first choice at left back currently, think Shaw has potential and will eventually take that position fully but he still has a hell of a lot to learn.

Blinds not got the passing range or vision of Carrick but I think like him he'll get better with age. Still trying to get used to the league, on Sunday he kept wandering and chasing the ball leaving little protection though whether that's him or LVG's tactics I don't know. In time he'll get there but if we have someone like Gundogan in front then he need not worry about creating/setting the tempo and would make his job easier.
Done well at left back too, as for Shaw he just needs games.

I think he's got the vision but not got the calmness of mind to execute stuff early enough yet, I reckon he'll be fine once he gets his head round the speed and bustle of the BPL, I'd back him.
Only cure for Shaw is game time and learning on the job. Drop him in for extended spells and pull him out, drop Blind in, sounds about right.
