You think we'd sign Bastian or Schneiderlin, or both? I think LVG will be looking for an experienced, leading figure at the heart of our CM and Schweinsteiger could be just that. He would not come to be first choice week in week out imo, although I am sure he would start all of our CL games for instance. Then LVG must, and that should be his prioirity, bring in a quality CM, preferably able to play both deep/defending or in a more advanced, box-to-box role to partner Herrera. And Schneiderlin fits the bill and would be affordable, while also fitting so many other criteria, like knowing the league, being young enough to grow in the team, ... If we bring in Bastian and Morgan, I think we will be just fine in CM. Bring in a versatile player like Firmino to add that bit of extra flair and movement/pace and I believe we're in perfect shape, with well-balanced lines.

I'd go, as of right now: In: Otamendi/Varene/Hummels (35 million) whichever is available, also depends on the keeper, Lloris would communicate better with Varene you would think, Leno maybe better with Hummels. Alexandre Lacazette (30 million) i think my love affair for him is well known But him up front with rooney would be the ideal pairing, much better and cheaper than Kane Dani Caravjal (20 million)/Barta (12 million) either i think would be an upgrade over Rafael, who needs to go, too many injuries and too inconsistent, despite his quality Morgan Schniederlin (25 million) Given his defensive stats, i think him and Herrera in the deep would prove to be an amazing partnership Bernd Leno (16.3 million) Thats his contract clause, i would match it and make him our keeper for the future, he plays for Leverkusen so he does come from a club of reasonable stature also and has played in europe, also is the same height as De Gea and pretty athletic. Out: Javier Hernandez/Robin Van Persie (15-20 million) Whoever is willing to take a reduced role, stays Rafael (12-15 million) Too injury prone, its a given he goes down sometime in the season, we need someone who is of the same quality, is more consistent and can stay healthy David De Gea (30 million) Sadly i think we are bound to lose him, i rather keep him but if it is this way, we can't do a damn thing apart from getting money from Madrid, given he is one of the best in the world, this is more than fair, considering what we risk in terms of CL money (if they don't match this, run down the contract and get our moneys worth) Net Spend: 69.7 million (at most) might be overvaluing Hernandez and RVP a bit but 15-20 million for strikers who both can be lethal and have proven it isn't too unreasonable right? (given the PSG's of the world would be lurking) 4-3-3 First XI Leno Caravjal - Hummels - Rojo - Shaw Schniederlin - Herrera Rooney Mata - Lacazette - Di Maria Key Subs: Hernandez/RVP, Depay, Januzaj, Carrick, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Valdes, Young, Valencia, Fellaini thats a full 11 players, which could be a problem as we advance through the season, plus we have Blackett and McNair. Thats our 23 man squad there in all honesty. Thats quiet scary how deep we would be. It will help us though given how we would have to play in the CL and Cups. I think a team like this would compete in all competitions (well, CL may be a stretch right now, but we will get out of the group and maybe get to the semi's, provided our front 4 play well, and i say 4 because Rooney will be more or less an attacking playmaker/second striker #10, but i'm not LVG) It is quiet the versatile squad also, with many of the players, even the ones brought in, being able to play a number of roles (Hummels as a CDM possibly, Lacazette anywhere in the front 3, Caravjal as a RM)

How you fitting all these in Matt, line up wise? I don't know yet, because a lot will depend of what LVG does: who will leave/stay/arrive ? But I think our CM with Carrick (nearing the end), Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Fellaini and Blind is not too much for all the games we will have next season and all the injuries we will most probably pick up yet again. The good thing with both Bastian and Morgan is that they can play deep, or in a box-to-box role, and in various systems (2- or 3-man midfield). Upfront is a mystery if I am honest, because a lot will be decided by Di Maria and RVP. If they both stay I don't see any major addition, and Firmino would be surplus to requirement. But I believe , for the team's sake, that we have to make a change upfront because in my books that was our weakness last season, paradoxically enough when you think of our frontline on paper. But more often than not we have been stuck, and we lacked those special players, those game changers to take advantage of our possession spells and much improved tactical system. Depay is a wonderful player in that regard, but if it was down to me, I would add yet another massive player upfront, preferably under or around 25-26 y.o. to bring in the quality we need at the highest level. And to further challenge a frontline that has let us down: and if that implies that one of RVP or ADM has to leave, so be it. Ideally, we should aim at a wide attacker, also able to operate in a striker role, hence why the Firmino rumours are interesting. But the one player I would take and pay massive cash for is Müller, although unreachable.

Once Van Persie came out and said we'll spend another £200m people went crazy with their predicted formation. But I'm thinking the big overhaul was last season, and now we're just going to add on that

Yeah, add on to last season's with one or three maybe, but the suggestion of 200m could mean all big money signings....we'll have to wait and see,but the suspense is killing me.

As a striker he is the player i want the most (over Benzema, and most certainly over Mandzukic, not a fan of his), we could even offer Lyon a player like Chicharito (maybe 15-20 million + Chicharito would make them do it) He is younger than the more established strikers, and shorter but he is faster and the cheaper option, and looks like he could be quality in the premier league next season, also seems like the best fit with Rooney (apart from Benzema, but Real Madrid aren't letting him go) anyone think that Zakaria Bakkari would be good at united, we have Depay but on a free, Bakkali seems like a very talented young player. Can play across the front 3, but is a winger, is one of the hottest prospects in europe and would only cost 750k in compensation. In: Alexandre Lacazette, Zakaria Bakkali, Morgan Schniederlin, Illkay Gundogan OR Bastian Schweinstieger, Nicolas Otamendi, Roberto Firmino, Caravjal Out: Robin Van Persie (if he wants, if not we can keep him, and transition him onto the bench slowly), Javier Hernandez, Johnny Evans, Rafael Lacazette, Otamendi and Schniederlin would be about a combined 100 million. So i would imagine the rest of the window we couldn't really spend that much more. so Firmino (15 million), Gundogan (15 mill?) or Schweinsteiger (10 mill if that is seriously a figure) and Bakkali (Free) would do nicely De Gea (if he stays) Caravjal - Otamendi - Rojo - Blind/Shaw Schniederlin - Herrera Mata Lacazette - Rooney - Di Maria the possibilities with such a squad would be endless. We would have the depth and quality to contend for the title and surely, would make a good run in the CL 8 days ago!
