Lukaku's the link today. Don't know about others but I'd take him. Proven premier league goalscorer, he's a big strong lad but isn't a one trick pony who you'd just launch it up to. He's got pace and skill as well.

Broke into the Brazilian first team recently but Monaco just made his loan move from Madrid permanent like a month ago.

I've never seen him play so I can't comment. He wasn't actually at Madrid permanently, he signed a loan deal with Castilla for a couple of seasons. They decided not to take up the offer to sign him in 2013 and he spent the last 2 seasons on loan at Monaco before they signed him permanently. The fact he's already broke into the Brazil side and is with them at the Copa America sounds promising though.

I know that Clyne is BPL tested and is home grown, but the defensive implosion at Southampton towards the end of last season is still fresh in the memory.

I'm starting to wonder about the whole rb situation - if we can't land Clyne or someone of that level, is it really worth replacing Valencia? He'a done a pretty good job and if we don't sell Rafael that's two, plus McNair who Van Gaal wanted to make a rb - three. |

Carvajal. come on now Real Madrid just brought in Danilo, he's younger than Rafael and is better, plus we might get a steal on him. McNair at RB gives me a bad vibe similar to Smalling at RB
Valencia should stay, starting to think Rafael should go, more injury prone, and we can still get very good value for him, Valencia won't get much i don't think (5 million probably, if we could get close to 10 we should take it)
