Is this a byproduct of them going after DDG though?...we are big enough to tout Madrid's players in the media also?
A bit of muscle-flexing from LVG/Woodward or a call that if yee want our boy, then we can go after yours?

Smells like a counter PR exercise to me, easy to make bold bids knowing full well they won't go anywhere. Makes you look like you're in the game and a player when in reality Madrid hold all the cards. Bale' camp used us to get the reassurances they / he wanted. Varane not sure about and Benzema might be a reluctant goer - but since when do we buy reluctant tho.

Kinda what I meant Ed,I think it's all smoke and mirrors relating to their DDG move.
Either a deterrent or a PR exercise to show that we won't be bullied by Madrid.I wouldn't put either beyond LVG to be honest.

Ultimately Glazers are hard nosed fuckers I think they'll get some of what they want out of it or they'll just shut the door on Madrid and he stays. Depends what input LVG has, but Glazers don't give a fuck whether he sees his contract out and they lose the money if you back them into a corner.

Glazers more or less are going to let Woodward and LVG and other members of management do their thing without intervention. they're smart businessmen. they aren't going to get personally involved unless they do something drastically stupid (like buying Benteke for 50 mill, though that would never happen)

Ed Woodward IS the Glazers, he does their bidding, they are one and the same, he's in daily contact with them. Things were different when Fergie and Gill were in charge and they took a back seat but not now.
