Lacazette would be my personal first choice, Carlos Bacca,Zlatan,Muller and Mauro Icardi maybe are all worth a punt I think I over Benzema.

We should learn more after the german cup final saturday, if we've got anything wrapped up in that direction we should be hearing about it shortly after.

That's the real question indeed. Some say we need a powerhouse/a target man, some say we need a goalscorer/finisher. My question though is what do people make of Rooney? If I am honest, I would take Benzema upfront any day ahead of Rooney, but only if we have a sorted CM. The good thing with Rooney is that he is a jack of all trade, and does that brilliantly, so that even when he plays upfront, you get his influence and presence all over the pitch which helps compensate for some flaws in our CM. The problem with Rooney though is that he is a master of none and if Benzema came in he should take Rooney's position straight away imo, as his moves are better, his touch a lot softer, etc. : he is a specialist at that position. With a quality CM (for instance Carrick/Schweinsteiger + Gundogan + Herrera), I would take Benzema with no hesitation, and Rooney would be sitting on the bench. But with a Fellaini/Blind/Herrera CM I would take a more versatile Rooney. So it's a tricky situation with Wayne Rooney really and I am curious to see how LVG will accomodate him if a striker comes in. My solution though, would be to add a player who can operate upfront on his own, or play from a flank in our attacking three. And right now, I see no one better at that role who would fit LVG's system completely than Thomas Müller. But the chances to get him are so thin I don't even consider him as a realistic option.

Well I'm quite certain he's not going to drop the captain, so we'll have to figure something out.

Like it or not Rooney is a proven 20-30 goal a season goal scorer when left to his own devices up front.

Because I think Lewandowski you can put up front with Rooney and they'd complement each other a damn sight more than Rooney / RVP, it's not ideal because it's really an out and out goalscorer who leads the line is what we need.

Fair enough.
What type of striker does LVG usually go for?

He definitely likes balanced partnerships and everyone has to do there assigned job properly, so if you're put up front to score goals as a 9 or 10 you better have a very solid goal to chance ratio. It's why he never rated Welbeck and hasn't really got the time to allow someone to develop in the position. If you look at Kluivert and Litmanen as a 9 and 10 they were both solid 6' footers but just dovetailed perfectly. Same for Kluivert and Saviola at Barca when he went there.
I can't see him putting up with all the number 9's we have or players who can play in the hole behind - RVP is a 9.5, Rooney's a 9, Mata a 9 and if you'd let him, Herrera. Assuming RVP goes he's missing a finished article modern day Stan Collymore. I really would take a punt on Lacazette because I just don't see anyone else out there.

Yeah, as I said earlier, I think Lacazette is the one for me. A big, strong, young fast attacker that can play all across the front if needed and a super finisher. Depay and Lacazette switching flanks with Rooney through the centre on attacks should surely provide goals and opportunities and with Rooney capable of dropping off as well when needed we could finally finish the puzzle that all our possession is presenting us.

I'm not so sure about Lacazette. He promised so much on football manager 2010, had the world at his feet. Scored 25 goals on loan at Preston but in he end he didn't fulfill his potential and ended up in the Championship playing for Huddersfield.
For this reason I'd steer clear of him.

Lacazette would be much much better than Benzema considering the price and real madrid will want De Gea
agree on rooney, put him up front and he will be a top 3 scorer in the prem.

I think the whole De Gea situation thingy should be sorted out quickly. He needs to tell us whether he's interested in playing for us again next season or his heart is at Real madrid. Get this sorted out so we can make a deal for a keeper quickly. If he goes, I am all in for Petr Cech. Get him for 10mil from Chelsea and he will be VDS again. Then get Benzema in as part of the De Gea swap... enquire about Varane. Pay a further 10-15 mil for his services and look for a DM sort of player. I think we would need a Vieira sort of player. Able to defend and attack at the same time. A box to box type, making intelligent runs and knows when to sit deep. France have been producing lots of those. We can go for Kondogbia, Matuidi or even Sissoko if Pogba is too expensive for us. 15-20mil max. Sort out our transfers before we go for our pre-season games. That's the ideal scenario for me.
