Dave's got a year left on his contract, we're hardly in a position to call the shots Bren. Knowing Madrid they'll try to get him for cheap as possible, if it's around 15m that is being branded about we might as well keep him for next season.
The best leveraging on players we will get is a gentleman's agreement.

£15mil would be a slap in the face, I'd definitely keep him for an extra season and just lose him for free instead of selling him on the cheap. I think he's worth at least £40m probably £50m. I'll accept no lower than £25m (seems you won't get his full value due to his contract expiring soon) and even that's a fucking steal.

I can't disagree with that to be fair...good points,(@ Monty) but nothing is too surprising for Real and if we can get a player like him I would be thrilled, then again Tony V is doing a great job there at the moment

isn't Rodriguez more of a Bale/Ronaldo type player (more attacking) rather than a more passing orientated Di Maria? Not sure I'd call Di Maria passing orientated, anyway from what I've seen of Madrid this season and from that what I can remember James has been in that midfield trio. He could play wide I guess should Bale move. Passing orientated compared to Ronnie and bale who like to get forward and score

I agree with that too Dave, but we must end Madrid's stranglehold on our players, it seems that nobody is prepared to stand up to them when they come sniffing around a player. Slap a huge tag on DDG and if they come up with it well and good, I don't see why Real think they can call the shots on the price they are to pay regardless of the time left on anybody's current contract. DDG is worth his weight in gold at the moment and if we are to lose him, we should be the better out of the deal and not the buying club surely.

The only way I see us digging our heals in over de Gea is if we're confident Madrid will get a transfer ban next summer - which they will if they really have broken the same rule Barca did and follow the same appeals process.
But other than that he's gone in the summer for me, we're in a shite position really. Either we decide to sell in which case we get maybe half of what he'd be worth on an open market, or we flatly refuse and risk upsetting a player with his heart set on a move elsewhere in which case we probably get half the performance levels we've seen this season.
If he really wants to go I say let him. The club and the fans could do no more, it might not come across on the tele but you should hear the East Stand when he trots over at the start of the second half every single home game; it's a massive chorus of songs, cheering and applause.

Totally, if a player wants to go, then let him, it's just a pity that we can't keep him here. It just annoys me that when a team get a player who can really make a difference to the next generation at a club that the shadow of Real coming in for him is always there in the background and cannot be ignored or refused.

can't we just offer him 200k+ to keep him, he is more than worth it
if not who do we get. the inter keeper has been linked to us (pretty shite in comparison) Begovic (also pretty shite in comparison)
real madrid though are pure scum, i would love us to just tell them to fuck off or tell them to offer up ronaldo for de gea straight and see if they don't go back reeling (yes, i believe he is worth at least bale level money)
sick and tired of this shit, we're supposed to be one of the biggest, yet we can never keep our best players, its absolutely pathetic really

as for a new keeper. Leno or courtois (preferably the latter) its them or nothing for me. barely any other player will replace de gea's quality, and with how shite our defense has been at times this season, we will need all of that ability

Mitten: New players will be bought -- two are ready to go as soon as the manager says so. Very interesting..

And Viktor Kolar, Cech’s agent, insists the 32-year-old is keen on a move to rivals Arsenal or Manchester United.
“Arsenal, Manchester United or PSG are all top clubs. And Petr would like to join one of them – definitely.
“Petr expects that Abramovic not Mourinho will decide about his future, based on their mutual agreement from last year.”

Need to get a decision on De Gea ASAP. If Cech is a real possibility I'd like us to get in there first, he's as good a replacement I can possibly imagine.

Another dithering Dave
Journo's seem to think Lloris, Custis and Winter both mentioning him among others but he's too erratic for my liking. Cech is calm and solid all round, proven at the top level, hopefully Louis can twist his arm.
