expanding on that. with him leaving, does that open up a window maybe for us to get Marco Reus. he is easily the best player left at dortmund honestly would not be against us bringing back kagawa (he never should have left in the first place, just moyes had nfi how to use him) as for Pogba, yep, Real Madrid is a natural fit (big ego central over there) though i think he would get more money at PSG (though now they are resembling something that is more of a team than real madrid is) Now when we have Memphis, Reus is a no go. To be fair, I was never confident we'll go for him anytime soon, Real or Bayern are his next destination. Actually, if Real goes for him, it'll be easier for us to get Bale but it's a long shot still. easier for us to get bale? and we could sell di maria (in fact, this is looking likely) and someone is going to want mata (though i really hope we keep him, he has been pretty damn good)

I think one of ADM, Valencia or Nani will be leaving with the Depay signing.

It was always a matter of when. Might not have been my first choice, but it's definitely a good signing. We desperatly need pace and dribbling skills in our new set up, and Depay will bring just that.
I think he might struggle a bit at first, because he has a lot to learn, but if he keeps a cool head and works hard under LVG, I have no doubt he will become a very good player.
But somehow, I am not sure yet our business is over in the attacking department. Will Nani return? Will Januzaj stay on? What to make with ADM? There are still many possible outcomes. Personally, I would still add a quality player able to operate upfront or out wide. Sounds greedy, I know, but our attackers have really had a poor season imo. If we want to challenge the best, we need to improve our front line and overall finishing.

However, I wouldn't include Valencia in this bracket if we're talking about wingers, he's the new fullback full stop. Actually, only Nani is the real winger/wide forward, di Maria is attacking midfielder first and foremost and should be played more centrally.

If we want to challenge the best, we need to improve our front line and overall finishing. Memphis is a good start, we need more flair players who can make things happen in a split second when the possession pass-it-around-the-box stuff doesn't work, usually against shitty parked-bus teams. That's why I'd keep Nani if all this Bale talk doesn't come out well. di Maria is one of the solutions on the right side but we all know where he is at his best. With a new, sorted balance in central midfield and defense, I think di Maria will flourish again like he's done last year at Madrid.

That's why I'd keep Nani if all this Bale talk doesn't come out well The only way I would even consider Bale is if he starts showing some motivation. Being off form is one thing I can accept, but he has been sluggish, slow, and I fail to see the dynamic and vivid Gareth Bale who was so wonderful at Spurs. Right now I think we would be mad to splash so much on him. I'd much, much rather buy Dybala and De Bruyne for that type of money for instance. I think di Maria will flourish again Hopefully you're right but I don't share your optimism right now. Even with a better team, I think he doesn't quite match LVG's demands. Di Maria is at his best in a counter-attacking system, and I am not sure he will ever flourish in a "slower", more tactical approach based on possession and clever movements. Just my opinion though.

I think the big problem with Bale is his mental state at the minute. As soon as he stopped to produce, big part of the crowd turned against him, followed by some media. Basically he's been made a scapegoat for some Real's bad results and it clearly affected him. Now, if he can't get his head around that and sort himself out, it's very possible that he'll seek a way out of Madrid sometimes in the future, maybe not a distant one, remains to be seen. About di Maria, I don't believe for one second and after a couple of bad months of play (which has it's background btw) that a world class player can turn into permanent shit and can't settle in any system, despite his attributes. It's not a blind optimism, I just a matter of my refusal to jump on a "di Maria is a shitty flop" bandwagon yet. van Gaal has clearly knew what sort of player di Maria is since he bought him for a record breaker fee. Until I see him play as a pile of crap in a properly gelled, settled and balanced team, I won't make any conclusions whether he'll match LvG's demands. And he moves a lot and linking up very well if you watched him in previous seasons, it's just that he didn't settle immediately in a completely new environment but that doesn't mean that he won't with more time and with better players around him (like in Real Madrid).

di Maria is a shitty flop I would never call him a flop. He is a fantastic player, as proven by his last season at Real. But I just think, in all fairness, that he won't adapt to LVG's demands and the players around him. But hopefully I am wrong: having an in-form Depay and Di Maria on each flank would be devastating.

Now, you quoted me to look like as I said that! Only kidding. Anyway, the players around him won't be the same as this season, hopefully. I mean on Young and Fellaini particularly. They've done well but we should improve on both positions I imagine, with CL football around the corner and all that jazz, playing against the likes of Robben, Ronaldo, Messi, Verratti etc...

I have a feeling that this deal will spell the end of Ashley Young's United career, despite his hugely improved form over the past 6 months.
Depay agreeing to come to United (and that he rejected the Scousers!) is fantastic news. I am very happy with that, should be a great signing as his style of play is adaptable to the Premier League and he should already have a healthy relationship with Van Gaal.
Not sure where Bale would fit in if we keep Di Maria and place him in the side with Depay, but if De Gea goes to the Bernabeu bringing him in wouldn't be a bad idea.

Did you not see Bale's performance v Juve the other night? He was absolute shite, why do you want him here? The last thing we need is another underperforming big money player to go with ADM and Falcao?...

ok, i am convinced we can get bale now
i think di maria for bale swap. real madrid could use his passing skills and we could use a player like bale to help our strikers in the attacking department.
also hopefully common sense prevails and we let falcao go back to monaco, he has been shocking. i rather play wilson or us bring chicharito
