Forgive me if I am getting a bit ahead of myself but this is the next real test for United IMO. Unbelievable to think that we have entered December and the Saints are still above Van Gaal's United.... but surely we can prove Southampton to be pretenders and gain a victory here!

Southampton have done well but they haven't played anyone, City, us, Arsenal and then Everton, Chelsea further down to come let's see what they are really made of starting with the game today.

I think Southampton will surprise everyone this season and finish in the top 4 (you heard it here first ) For me it doesn't matter who they've played because the only other team this season who've been consistent is Chelski who will probably win the league by the biggest margin ever. Only Chelski have scored more goals and Southampton have conceded a lot less than anyone so they obviously are playing as a compact team which is always hard to break down whoever the opposition. If Southampton play like Hull yesterday and park the bus then they will suffer but that's not their style so if we can come away with a point and play well then I'll be happy. But let's get Stoke out of the way first.

I was surprised that Southampton lost so badly to City Yes it seemed very easy for City ..... the Saints match at Arsenal tomorrow will be interesting to see if they can muster a reaction after the City loss - plus all the pressure on Arsene Wenger right now With us next and Chelsea to follow at the end of the month and before that 3 matches away at Burnley, home Everton and away at Crystal Palace - maybe the Saints bubble will burst before New Year - their squad has less depth than a lot of teams especially now when injuries crop up. Expecting us to the take three points here and we're playing Monday night - so our lads should be fresh and fired up for a win

Southampton have some very good players who complement each other very well and possess a great team chemistry. However, in a big match like vs City they've showed a high level of naivety (something like City in Europe). For them to be a top 4 side in the future it's needed that this team stays together for some time without too much changing and chopping. Chelsea and City were investing in their teams a lot more than Southampton but they needed also a lot of time to get where they are now. It's also fair to say that without investing heavily in new players over the years in the future, that goal is hardly achievable for them, unless someone else from the top dogs drop dramatically and they take advantage on that, like we did last year, but no one from "the outsiders" got there (well, except Liverpool ).

Looking forward to this cos I'll actually have a chance to watch a game for a change. I think we can grab 3pts, Southampton are doing alright but probably haven't been tested too hard.

Do Southampton have a team to put out? Cork, Tadic, Alderweireid, Schniderlin, Rodriguez, Prowse ward and who knows who else will likely miss the game against us. Some big players there. We should never underestimate teams but I am feeling a lot more confident.

Southampton have 6 injuries? It'd be nice if we could only have 6 injuries.

Yeah but if those 6 were Rooney, Di Maria, Falcao, Carrick, Herrera and Blind then i wouldn't be that confident about getting a result against one of the strongest teams in the league and if Doc is right about Wanyama then we could add De Gea to the list as well.
