Mourinho wants Renato Sanches, Ibrahimovic and Stones according to the Sun ;-)
Would agree on Sanches and Stones
Götze was amazing at Dortmund. Was injured a lot recently and never reached that level again. We need wingers, not another no.10 so would not go for him.

fully agree, meant we didn't sign a proper box-to-box player ever since he left.

Zlatan, as any other player, would struggle in the current side. Our main problem is not firepower but creativity. We have never replaced Scholes! We signed Schneiderlin who is a good no. 6. We have signed Herrera which is more of a no. 10 despite coming the closest to a real bo-to-box player. Tell me a winger of the highest calibre we have? None! We play a striker and a no. 10 out wide. That's our problem. Still a no.9 is needed but I'd say those other areas are more important.
We dominated big parts of the Spurs game, especially in the first 20 min but we didn't even create 1 chance out of that. Our only chance was made by Martial for himself by beating 3 defenders and we can't count on him to do these things regularly.

Mata had to track back with Rose on several occasions. Any good coach would have reacted to that and put a more combatitive Lingard on that side or Young and I agree with Kaushik that Lingard lacks the passing ability to play there. He can do that job like Park did in special games such at the Emptihad where it worked out because of his activity

With the no.10 role I can understand why to play Lingard there but not to move Mata on the wing.
The no.10 is a choice between Mata, Lingard and Herrera
The wing is a choice between Lingard, Young and Depay.
It's Mata as no.10 or benched. He only plays RW because LVG has no winger he trust to do that job.
Therefore I'd put a proper winger top of our transfer list and not a striker. Ideally someone who can play both like Martial.
The fact LVG plays half the team out of position after almost 2 year at the club just underlines his failure. He played Young as RB and LB and surpringsly that worked well. So he must find another position for him to struggle? Everything he does is just so weird

I agree that Mourinho doesn't fit and we put the development of our youngsers at risk with him but I can no longer watch LVG ruining this club. ANYONE is better than him. With Louis we a assured to fail. I am fed up and hurt by watching this

That's it then, season is over. FA Cup left to play for. Thought we played better at the beginning. Finally we did some pressing which we were lacking all season. In the end the side showed no mentality which is characteristic for LVG's side. Only positive is Fosu-Mensah but any defender seems to get injured at United.

Ibrahimovic would help us a season or two but we should sign players for the long term.

3-5-2 didn't work for us so far but it is an upcoming tactic in recent years. works well with the right players like Alaba for example.
quick defenders with an eye for a pass. Blind lacks the pace, otherwise he'd be suited to play that. Also very good wide players are needed who can attack and defend. Think we do not have that. Shaw maybe if he improves on the attacking side.
There are so many things we don't understand with Louis, not playing 4-3-3 and playing Fellaini ahead of Schneiderlin is just the tip of the iceberg.

No, Kante and Drinkwater are obviously not compareable but they are good when you want to play deep and defend and hit the opponent on the counter. United wants to play attacking football and domate midfield. Thats a big difference!
I also disagree regarding the systems. The 4-2-3-1 operates with a playmaker whereas in 4-4-2 the responsibility for creativity is solely with the 2 CM's.
I agree 4-3-3 to be the best for us, as I think in most games 1 defensive mid is enough. Its just a question, if we want to include a no.10 like Mata or Rooney to go for 4-2-3-1 or when we need more defensive stability, in an CL away match for example.
4-2-2-2 or the diamond, which have seen also, don't have enough width imo. Could work when the two striker drift out wide a lot.

4-4-2 works for leicester in a very defensive, counter attacking way. Not what I want us to play. You will need 2 CM who can carry the burden of defending AND attacking. So you need two zop-class midfielder like Pogba & Modric for example. Then CM ist an area where we are rather weak.
Then the LM and RM need to track back a lot and keep midfield thight. Depay hasn't shown so far he can do that.
I am not totally against 4-4-2 but it doesn't suit our squad. As mentioned Mata wouldn't fit in there at all.
4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is the way forward for me.

Martial would be my first choice no.9.
Then we could play Rooney, Griezmann or Rashford there.
Would be enough for me but I wouldnt deny Kane or Lukaku.

full squad for the season. Some player can play various positions but I shifted them a way to have any position covered (for example Martial for me is more a no.9 than winger).
GK: De Gea, Romero
RB: Darmian, Varela CB: Smalling, Jones CB: STONES, Blind, Rojo LB: Shaw, B.-Jackson
DM: Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Carrick CM: GÜNDOGAN, Herrera AM: Mata, Lingard
RW: GRIEZMANN, Young LW: Depay, Martial ST: Rooney, Rashford
plus Fosu-Mensah, Weir, Wilson, Januzaj, Pereira, McNair, W. Keane (some loaned out)
I wouldn't sell any CB unless we sign 2 new given the injury record they all have.
I'm sorry for Valencia but we have to move on. Always liked him, especially in 2011 he was immense.
Fellaini not needed any more but wouldn't mind having Carrick in the dressing room for another year and the fitness issues with Schweinsteiger.

I want us to sign:
Defender: - Stones or Hummels (or Laporte but isn't he badly injured which makes a transfer almost impossible? Stones being english is also an advantage)
box-to-box midfielder: (to play 4-3-3 alongside Schneiderlin and Herrera) - Gündogan or Kanté (doubt if the latter offers enough in an attacking sense, Would also love to have R.Sanches in the long term)
Attacker: - Griezmann (can play winger both sides or striker) (obviously rather Bale if he gets available but I doubt)
