Thank god we didn't have to witness or couple of 0-0's and shithousery passwalks to a penalty shootout
Goes to show how painful this possession game is when it doesn't work out. Death by a thousand cuts
Anyway safe to say Messi g-o-a-t. Cap it off on Sunday. Penny for CR7's thoughts now

Football styles. Styles styles styles. Youze right?
After England going out last night it got me thinking as we will be going back to club games soon.
I've seen nearly all the games in the World Cup because of televising which you wouldn't get with club games where it's only highlights and may not get the full picture
I thought England played well last night but France are more rounded and got the job done without playing well.
We are looking at the last 4 now so I'm thinking it gives us a good idea at the current state of world football. Doesn't matter who has or hasn't won at this point.
2 of the 4 semi finalists were in the last world cup final so it's not a million miles off
I would say its 50/50 conservative to attack minded teams. The gate keepers being Croatia and Morocco and the go getters being France and Argentina
So with a United hat on where do we sit in terms of teams styles both now and where we want to be
Whether we like it or not or whoever our preferences are, these are the best players in the world right now or at least should be if they are doing their stuff.
So what style are we and where are we aiming to be at. I know international and club football is somewhat different stakes and you can afford to mix it around a bit, but still, try give this a shot.
I've haven't thought much about my ones but I think there's a good bit of LVG's stuff in us

Re Uruguay.
Have I this right?? So its Uruguay v Ghana in last round of games in their group.
If Uruguay don't concede against Ghana, and Portugal beat Korea, Uruguay can qualify from group by scoring just 1 goal in their 3 games by scoring just 1 and beating Ghana???

Today was baffling full stop. Which is why I came up with that idea above
Yeah I didn't get Canada either especially after their performance against Belgium.
Japan was the story of the whole lot for me. Reading and listening to the Germans actually say that after that result tonight against Spain, that it's in their hands
How pathetic a thought that must be for Japan. They fuckin blew one this morning sure
After going out and beating Germany then lose to one of the worst teams in the competition. Japan didn't struggle in the final 3rd against Germany but today was a different story.
When life presents the chance to you don't blow it

So why does Croatia keep so much possession in a game and score 4???
A one off?

Great idea here for FIFA if they do want to do something radical to promote the game
For teams who aren't interested in scoring goals or do not want to be measured on it.
If that's their perogative to be measured on defence and tactics and all that stuff
How about mesure or have minimum no of shots inside and outside the opponents box both on and off target. More for on target obviously
And most touches inside opponents penalty area. All arguably easier than scoring a goal
Bit like rugby. You get rewarded based on territory and you will eventually get lower teir scores or your opponent gets punished
Rules of attacking and defending won't change and it surely won't do any harm to game. You will still be allowed score goals but seeing as a lot of teams don't look bothered about scoring we can use other measures
In multi score sports you still get draws but you never hear competitors going out looking for a draw
That would sharpen it up
